The Wind Symphony clarinets have had an exciting few days in Fort Worth at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) National Conference.
On Thursday evening they performed a concert with works by Robert Spittal, James David, Jocelyn Hagen, Frank TIcheli, and Michael Daugherty, featuring soloist Molly Fillmore (soprano), and guest conductors Dr. Andrew Trachsel and Professor Amy Woody.
On Friday, they participated in a session on Michael Daugherty’s Fifteen: Symphonic Fantasy on the Art of Andy Warhol, entitled A Musical Translation of Warhol’s Art into Symphonic Winds. They played selections from the piece to illustrate points on instrumentation and the creative process taken by Robert Schwartz and Michael Daugherty to translate the orchestral version of the work to one for wind band.
Congratulations to the ensemble for the performances and for representing UNT at the national level!
