A big congratulations goes out Emily Harbach, an upcoming Senior at Argyle High School, on her National Championship victory in the javelin at College Station today at the USATF meet. Her winning throw was 43.66 meters(143-3).

Tremendous training sessions this morning. Ayo Kumolu, entering his freshman year at Byron Nelson High School, with a tremendous speed/acceleration session, followed by Monique Cook, a high jump/heptathlete from Denton Guyer, entering her freshman year at Oral Roberts, with huge jumps over her PR from 4 steps. Great to see young student-athletes develop and figure things out.

This old Soviet clip was one of my original plyometric inspirations. Back 10+ years ago, my main values were maximal intensity depth jumps and hurdle hops (which are still amazing) but now I see such massive value in the parkour type elements, gymnastics, hurdling and training in nature. Given this is around 40-50 years old, we need to ask, how has training built on this… or has it regressed?
