We are the Beta Eta chapter of the professional co-ed chemical fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma, located at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

The Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity was organized at the University of Wisconsin–Madison by a group of undergraduates who were fellow students in chemistry at that time. Later documents set the date of founding as December 11, 1902. The original founders were Raymond Tracy Conger, Harold Everett Eggers, Joseph Gerard Holty, Alfred Emil Kundert, Joseph Howard Mathews, Edward Gustav Mattke, Bart Eldred M

Dr. Petros is holding an information session on "REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Applications" Thursday evening at 5:00 PM in CHEM 109.

If some of you are wanting to get involved in research this summer REU's are a summer research experience that can last a few weeks to a few months. It is usually off campus (and sometimes out of states) and usually gives stipend payment to do research. If you are needing help figuring out REU's attend this informational session

Greetings All,

As this first week of school comes to an end I want to reflect on a few brothers that made the most of their summer time. Each of these brothers got to visit a different places to study, research, and volunteer. All three are exemplary brothers who embodied the three objects through their work.

Perla Espinoza worked with All Hands and Hearts a disaster response non-profit in Puerto Rico. Her efforts helped citizens there still recovering from Hurricane Maria. Only just this summer did a majority of the island regain electricity (via The Hill).

Travis Hull got to attend international courses at Université de Caen Normandie. There he took courses in French as being apart of the Cours Internationaux d'Ete program at the university division Carre International. He also got to visit some historic science sites such as the grave of Marie & Pierre Curie and Victor Grignard's high school.

Jacob Schaffner attended a REU at Florida State University. There he conducted research on Solar Cells. In addition to research, he also recovered from an appendectomy while there and managed to achieve his lab work.

As we move forward this semester REMEMBER to set goals, work hard, and cross your achievements off one by one. And as always your brothers have your back. I look forward to working with everyone this semester in our common goal of brotherhood: To Bind. To Strive. To Aid.
