4 years ago on September 22, 2020 (in the first year of the Pandemic), UNT Percussion initiated our 10 Questions Plus Series with jazz vibraphone virtuoso Gary Burton. To surprise Gary, I invited Chick Corea to pop into the conversation. The result was priceless! This conversation was just a few months before Chick’s passing. At the time, we did not know (Gary included) that Chick was ill.

Amazing first day at the American Percussion Seminar at the UNT College of Music! Clinics by Dave Hall and Ed Smith, ensemble rehearsals and lessons taught by Sandi Rennick, Miyoune Kim and Eric Sammut! Tonight is our first faculty concert with all of the faculty Jacob Thompson and Paulina Pietras!

We are excited to welcome marimbist and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra percussionist Miyoune Kim to UNT and the American Percussion Seminar! She is an amazing musician!
