These scores are more than just numbers—they’re a great opportunity for students to see how much they’ve grown and set goals for where they want to go next! 🎯

We encourage students to:
⭐ Review their scores
⭐ Celebrate their strengths
⭐ Identify areas where they want to grow
⭐ Talk with their teachers during data chats about their goals for this school year

Parents, be on the lookout for these scores coming home and use them to start a conversation with your student about their goals for the year!

📐🧊 ONE SKILL. TWO CLASSROOMS. TWO DIFFERENT WAYS TO APPLY IT! 🔬🐝

Learning doesn’t happen in isolated subjects—and Mrs. Berry’s 6th Grade Math students and Mr. Callahan’s 7th Grade Science students gave us the perfect example!

📦 In 6th Grade Math, students put their surface area skills to work by measuring and calculating the surface area of copy paper boxes, applying their math skills to a real-world object.

🧊 In 7th Grade Science, students explored how surface area affects the rate of phase change using ice. They observed melting rates, recorded data, and made connections to heat transfer and particle movement.

Same concept. Different grade levels. Different subjects. Real-world applications. 💡

This is vertical alignment and cross-curricular learning in action! The skills our students build in one classroom become tools they can use to understand concepts in another.

Mrs. Overton’s 7th grade science students are making learning POP! 🫧

Students participated in a bubble demonstration to visualize what happens to particles as they gain energy when energy is added and lose energy when it is removed.

We love seeing science come to life through hands-on learning at DSJH! 💜💛
