This story from WBRZ hit hard — a nursing assistant was charged after a resident fell from a hydraulic lift.
No one wakes up planning for that to happen.
But safety habits can prevent it.

Here’s what every CNA can do starting today:
âś” Inspect the sling and straps before use
âś” Lock the bed and wheelchair
âś” Always have help when lifting
âś” Move slowly and talk to your resident throughout

Negligence doesn’t mean you didn’t care — it means a system failed somewhere.
Let’s protect each other, protect our residents, and make safety non-negotiable.

Please share to protect the next patient and aide!

Common mistakes:
❌ Operating alone
❌ Failing to inspect sling
❌ Moving lift too fast
❌ Leaving resident suspended

Double-check, communicate, and move carefully. Safety first, always.

The mechanical lift is all about teamwork and safety.

âś” Always have two caregivers present
âś” Lock both bed and wheelchair
âś” Double-check sling position before lifting
âś” Move slowly and talk through every step

The lift is your resident’s safety line — treat it with care.

Ambulation looks simple, but it’s an easy way to lose points on your CNA exam. Remember:
âś” Apply gait belt snugly
âś” Non-skid shoes on first
âś” Hold belt correctly (from underneath)
✔ Walk at resident’s pace
âś” Ensure comfort before ending

Safety always comes first.

Feeling overwhelmed preparing for your CNA exam? You are not alone. As an RN who teaches CNA students, I see so many of you second-guessing your ability. But let me tell you: passing isn't about being perfect—it's about showing up, preparing smart, and staying consistent.
Start with what's always tested: handwashing. This one skill shows your foundation in infection control, and it sets the tone for everything else. Don't overlook it, practice until it feels automatic.
You're not behind. You're not too late. You're building your future. You got this.

Follow .training.c for real-world CNA test prep from your RN instructor.
Is there anything else I can help you with regarding this text or your CNA preparation?
