Western Horse 4-H Members spent two days showing at the USU Bastian Center in South Jordan this past week. Part of a 5 day event, the Western Individual show includes knowledge, judged, and speed events.

Millard county was represented by juniors JoJo Bess and Ruston Thatcher (pictured on their horses) as well as Seniors Kaylee Mitchell, Benedetta Stephenson, and Callie Ward. They all worked very hard and performed well in their events.

Club leaders, Lindsey Mitchell and Candi Stephenson, coached, mentored, and cheered them on through it all. They are dedicated volunteers and we are very grateful for their time and knowledge shared throughout the year.

🍀Explore What's Possible in Millard 4-H!

🐴Western Individual, Two-Handed, In-Hand, Working Ranch, Working Equitation, English, and Horse-less are all the projects under the umbrella of Utah 4-H Horse Programs.

📣Millard Co. currently has 2 active clubs in the Western Individual program. Yes, you have to have your own horse (or you can lease or borrow) to join. Clubs typically run Spring - Fall, ending with the Utah State 4-H Horse Show as their capstone event.

🎉this year, Millard County will be proudly represented by 5 4-H members at the Bastian Center in South Jordan September 16 - 19.

❓Are you are wanting to join but do not have access to a horse? Horse-less clubs and contests are a great place to learn all about horses, the equine industries and career pathways, and compete in horse 4-H contests.

Explore What's Possible in Millard 4-H! 🍀

🎪the Utah State Fair is what we call a "capstone event" for 4-H members! 4-H projects from all counties are selected to be exhibited at the State Fair. Millard County is sending 32 projects this year!

📣Large Livestock, Small Animals, Floriculture, Fruits and Vegetables may also be shown at the Utah State Fair.

🗓Starting September 10th, Millard County will be represented by talented 4-H members (FFA TOO!) and their projects. make the trip and go support them!

💲Day 2 and last Chance to take advantage of half-off 4-H enrollment discounts!

🍀New and returning members: take a look at what we have to offer so far!

☝Parents, if you plan to be actively involved with your child, please enroll as a volunteer. This does not mean you are signing up to lead clubs, unless you'd like too... Regardless of whether you are volunteering or simply attending along side your child, all adults should be enrolled as a volunteer. Our first priority is the safety and well-being of all youth members. This also helps with communication and understanding of Positive Youth Development.

🤩4-H Club Leaders and Volunteers are the best of the best and we want to continue holding that standard. Thank you to all those supporting and serving Millard County Youth in 4-H!

County Contests are making their way back to Millard 4-H! Starting with 4-H Portfolios!

You choose the Cover Letter objectives that best fit your experiences. Report on one project or all! Include past and present exeriances in your resume but focus on 2025-26 in your Cover Letter.

☑Join the Contest by submitting your portfolio in the Zsuite Event September 1st - October 1st, 2026. Awards given to all participants.

We're closing the book on one year and opening the first chapter of another!

The 2025-26 4-H Year has been one of the most challenging and rewarding for Millard 4-H. What we have accomplished so far is admirable and worth celebrating!
