Fort Uncompahgre Interpretive Center on October 10. 2026

Immediately following our 3rd Annual Campfire Cookoff, and amidst our annual Autumn Encampment, Friends of Fort Uncompahgre in Delta, present on stage, The Ordinary Two: Guitarist Jim Disner, who has shared the stage with jazz greats like Stanley Jordan and Ron Miles, joins his wife, vocalist Tanya Disner, in laid-back, acoustic, indie-pop, with a lot of jazz flavor and sweet vocal harmonies.

Jim fell in love with Tanya when he first heard her sing.. Sultry vocals and fancy fretwork spin tales of life, love and the open road. Theirs is a unique Alternative/Folk/Jazz blend of simultaneously humorous, inspiring, and mournful original songs - along with some unexpected covers.

Come experience an enchanted evening under the stars with live music and the smell of campfires. The stage area will open at 6:00 PM.

Or consider making it a full day of frontier fun for the whole family starting at noon. During the cook-off, tour the fort and visit with the mountain men and women who reenact the fur trade era. Maybe test your skill competing in Tomahawk throwing or the frying pan toss!

Donations are accepted and used to support the efforts of Friends of Fort Uncompahgre, an all-volunteer non-profit group dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Fort Uncompahgre,

A big thank you to Bank of Colorado who have chosen to sponsor this benefit concert!

Only one known eyewitness account survives regarding the attack on Fort Uncompahgre (1844). . . In late September, Jose Francisco Trujillo and Calario Cortez were downstream from the Fort checking traps. They were far enough away that they did not hear the attack on the Fort. Cortez was barefoot and in the water, his r***e and other gear lay yards away up on the bank near Trujillo. Suddenly shots rang out and Trujillo fell mortally wounded. . . Leaving his dead companion and all of his own gear behind, Cortez began a race for his life." - Ken Reyher, Antoine Robidoux and Fort Uncompahgre.
On Friday Sept 18 at 0830, Brad Bailey left a small group of volunteers at Fort Uncompahgre Interpretive Center bound for Taos NM on foot, retracing the footsteps of Cortez as closely as modern highways, closed trails and private fences will allow.

Godspeed Brad!
Note - Brad has done extensive research on Calario Cortez as well as spent months getting in shape for this walk of 26 miles a day over 14 days. His notation on the Fort Uncompahgre guest book said "182 years to the date."
