Not often, but every once in a while, I have seller's remorse and have ro "re-make" a piece for myself. This one is for me. And, yes, I am a little upset about that one piece of water that has the iridescent glass running in the wrong direction. 😫 I have to see if I can find more of this glass somewhere. Or, maybe I will call it ok and live with it. 😉

Tess Blum, "Where the marsh holds the sky", Stained glass, smalti, 2026, $350

The mosaic captures a fleeting moment when the marsh becomes both landscape and mirror, holding the sky in quiet reflection. The interplay of raspberry, tangerine and plum tones evokes the deepening calm of dusk. Threads of olive weave through the composition , grounding the piece in the rhythms of wetland grasses and earth.

This mosaic invites the viewer to pause in the suspended moment between day and night, where color softens, boundaries blur, and the natural world feels both vast and intimately held.

Season VII of the One Hundred Moments Project, founded by the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) as a non-juried collection of work capturing a moment in time created by SAMA’s diverse and richly creative membership.

This season, SAMA invited partnering organizations to the open call to create 6″ x 6″ works using materials of the artists’ choice, using their original designs. The work of seasoned professionals is displayed here alongside enthusiastic newcomers to the mosaic, mixed media, stained glass, glass bead, and fused glass-making processes, culminating in 100+ moments of life rendered by artists from all over the world.
