Embrace The Muchness LLC ADHD Coaching & Education
Individual & Parent ADHD Coaching
Professional Development & Consultation

I'm an ADHDer and parent of ADHD children who provides ADHD coaching to individuals, groups and parents of ADHD children. I also enjoy providing professional consultation and professional development trainings for helping professionals! I live in Decorah, IA and provide services virtually to folks in the United States & Canada. I utilize a neurodiversity affirming approach which means I view ADHD

as a valid variation in how the brain works. I help folks learn about how ADHD brains work and how to work with not against ADHD tendencies.

Looking for referral options to add to my list!

I support a lot of ADHDer therapists both in my roles as a psychotherapist and ADHD coach. The folks I support can often benefit from contracting out various types of administrative support and I'd like to build up my list of referral options available and find folks with specialties in supporting therapists.
Looking for folks who provide the following services:
- virtual assistant services
- billing/credentialing support
- marketing/social media management
- website design and management
- accounting or tax support
- legal consultation
- open to other related services as well

MUST meet the following criteria:
-Already have experience working with therapists and understand the nuances, language of our field, HIPAA, etc.
-Know how to support ADHD business owners and be able to take the lead on making sure the support you are providing keeps moving forward (i.e. check ins, reminders, easy to read summaries and meeting notes, etc.)
-Be LGBTQIA+ affirming

The folks I support are typically overwhelmed, often struggle with chronic illnesses, and near or approaching burn out, so they need their support services to feel like its reducing their work, not creating more. They don't want to have to spend time educating/orienting their supports to this field.

If any of this describes you or someone you'd highly recommend, please share a little about what services you offer and website links in the comments.

I'm in the process of updating and improvindg my 8 hour training, "A Deep Dive into Adult ADHD: A Neurodiversity Affirming Approach for Mental Health Professionals".

While I have many pieces I for sure will maintain and lots that I want to add, I'd love to hear from all of you about what you think is important to be included so I'm not missing anything?

If you are a clinician who has already taken the training, what more do you wish was included? Or what was really helpful I should make sure to maintain?

If you are a clinician who would consider taking the training, what would you be hoping to learn in this training?

If you are an ADHDer or a loved one of an ADHDer, what do you wish that mental health professionals better understood about ADHD?

Share your thoughts in the comments or send me a private message if you prefer!

I was invited to be part of an online summit and will be interviewed and will be sharing about using technology tools to help support children with ADHD. I'll share more on that later on as it gets closer.

To help me prepare, I'd love to hear about what your favorite apps/tech tools are for supporting children with ADHD. The audience will mostly be providers like speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and some mental health providers.

If you are a provider, you can share about what apps or tech tools you frequently use with, recommend to your clients, or hear clients share about how they help.

If you are a parent of an ADHDer, share the tech tools and apps you use in your home that you love!

While I'm famiilar with a lot of them, there are constantly new apps and tools being released and it's hard to keep up, so I'd love to know if there's anything super helpful I might not be aware of!

It's a good time to do a quick review of your fall calendar!
- Check if you need to make any adjustments related to school year changes
- If you have children add or review any scheduled activities
- Consider any vacaction days/no school days that need to be added or planned
- Fix any calendar events that you still have on there but have stopped or changed and you haven't updated
- Think about upcoming holidays and any planning or schedule changes that need to be considered
- Make sure any personal appointments are blocked off on your work calendar

This is such an important topic. In addition to what he shares - there's been recent research stating that women with ADHD tend to experience perimenopause earlier (late 30's) more often than non-ADHD women (in 40's).

Here's your occasional reminder (because I had to remind myself of this today)
Unsubscribe from the email lists you never open. It takes less than a minute, and will save you time daily, or weekly of having to delete each one. It will reduce the clutter in your inbox, and can make prioritization easier and prevent you from moving into an overwhelm and task paralysis state every time you open your inbox. I typically need a reminder to do this quarterly, as it seems every time I buy something online or donate to something, I get opted in to a mailing list. (I also try to watch closely when checking out to leave an opt in unchecked if given the option to prevent this in the first place but we're not always given a choice).

Another quick tip- if they're all just ads and nothing important, take 1 more minute to do a search for the sender and delete all.

I've also started a habit of blocking all unsolicited marketing emails I receive to my business trying to sell me something. If I ignore the first one, they always write back 1-2 more times. I just simply block them when I receive the first one. The people pleasing parts of me used to feel this was too harsh, but I've shifted that view into acknowledging that these are not potential clients of mine, and they are literally creating more work for me and I didn't consent for them to contact me.

Managing email is a huge challenge for many of the ADHDers I support and it's often not something we intentionally time block for in work or in personal lives but requires a large amount of mental energy and executive functioning. These small steps can help reduce that some.

Supporting someone with ADHD around time management often means moving beyond reminders like "just use a planner" or "they just need to try harder."

Individuals supporting ADHDers often find themselves frustrated when an ADHDer struggles with time management, and unsure how to help. In my newest article, What the EF? How To Support Time Management, I share what does actually help to support time management.
The article covers:
• Why time management is about much more than telling time
• Common responses that unintentionally backfire
• Practical accommodations that reduce cognitive load
• Ways to scaffold towards independence
A companion article to Understanding Time Management, this piece is written to be shared with any parents, partners, or others supporting ADHDers.

I'd love to hear...what time management support strategies have you found most effective?
