Mrs. Snyder’s Intro to Teaching as a Profession students had a fun start to the school year by exploring what makes a teacher truly effective! After learning about and discussing the qualities and characteristics of effective teachers, students worked in groups to create presentations about their favorite fictional teacher. 🎓🍎

From iconic classroom characters to inspiring role models, students had the opportunity to share what makes these fictional teachers stand out and connect those qualities to what it means to be an effective educator. They even compared their fictional teachers to our teachers in real life!

The students thought this was a fun and engaging way to kick off the school year—and what better way to begin learning about the teaching profession than by talking about some of our favorite fictional teachers? ❤️📖

This week, students in Mrs. Harris' biology classes explored a fascinating question: Are viruses alive?

Students investigated whether viruses should be classified as living things -- a question that requires careful analysis and scientific reasoning.
Students reviewed the eight characteristics that define living things. Students read articles about viruses and highlighted evidence supporting both sides of the debate. Students used CER (Claim-Evidence-Reasoning) to defend their positions with scientific support. This activity challenges students to think like scientists by analyzing evidence, evaluating information critically, and constructing scientific arguments -- skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Mrs. Harris is proud of the curiosity and critical thinking her students are demonstrating.
