Should you choose to attend the upcoming Volusia County School Board Meeting, please review the information below and feel free to use any of these scripts to help you formulate your own public comments:
When:
Tuesday, April 22nd Board Meeting begins at 4:30 PM (Arrival time to fill out a Speaking Card should be no later than 5:30 PM)

I support the new K8 school being built in DeBary because it will provide local families, including mine, with greater access to quality education and a stronger sense of community. Thank you, School Board, for expediting this and brining this school to our community. I am currently attending Stetson University College of Law, and I plan to raise my family in DeBary. It's important to me to live in a community where my children can grow up in a supportive environment and attend schools that will help them thrive. As a parent of school-aged children, I know firsthand how important it is to have access to quality education close to home. Building a school in the City of DeBary would not only benefit our families by reducing travel time and creating stability, but it would also strengthen our community as a whole—attracting new families, fostering local pride, and investing in the future of our children right here where we live. I appreciate the School Board in bringing this to the DeBary community. As a parent of school-aged children, I strongly support building a school in the City of DeBary. Having a local K8 school will provide families with convenient access to quality education, strengthen our sense of community, and create lasting benefits for future generations. It’s an investment in our city’s future and a meaningful step toward making DeBary an even better place to live and raise a family. Thank you School Board for making this happen for our children. Having a local school will strengthen our community and better serve our families. The City of DeBary is continuing to grow, with more homes being built. However, we need a local school for our children to attend—one that’s right here in our community. This K8 is close enough for kids to walk or ride their bikes to, and convenient for parents to drop them off by car or even golf cart. Having our own school in DeBary is important so our children can learn and grow in the community where they live. Thank you School Board for bringing this to DeBary.I grew up in DeBary and had to be bused out of the area for school – I don’t want that experience for my children. I want them to have a school close to home that they can be proud of. This proposed K-8 school is incredibly beneficial for our community and has been a long time coming. With the current opportunity to purchase land, the time to act is now. Where else in DeBary is there enough space for a school like this? I fully support the School Board moving forward with this land purchase – for our community and, most importantly, for our children.
