Mama O (Omope Carter-Daboiku) was the Convocation speaker today at Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio, where she admonished students to take advantage of their institution's "supportive" and "nurturing" environment to find both their passion and purpose. She spoke in the Paul Robeson Cultural & Performing Arts Center auditorium. Mama O is a cultural geographer, professional actor and storyteller; multimedia and voice artist, award-winning writer, and theater producer.

CSU Celebrated Community Health Worker Day! πŸ©ΊπŸŽ‰

We took time to honor the heart of community health!

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are trusted leaders, advocates, and connectors who make a difference every day by:

βœ… Promoting wellness
βœ… Providing vital health education
βœ… Supporting families
βœ… Bridging the gap between communities and healthcare

Whether in homes, neighborhoods, or health centers, CHWs listen, lead, and lift their communities.

πŸ“Έ These photos feature CHWs from the Community Health Program and several partner organizations spanning from Dayton to Springfield who joined us for CSU CHW Day.

🎁 Each CHW received prizes or thank-you gifts for attending. We also enjoyed fun activities including painting, guessing games, Oreo challenges, Jenga, Batos, yoga stretching β€” and a delicious catered lunch from Dorothy Lane Market featuring the famous Killer Brownie!

We’re so grateful for everything CHWs do for our communities. πŸ’›

While CHW parents were working hard to achieve their dream of becoming Community Health Workers, their children explored their creativity, designing and sewing these fun, custom-lined tote bags!

From choosing fabrics to stitching their designs, these young creators brough their ideas to life, showing off their skills and imagination. What a wonderful way to learn and express themselves!
