Getting ages 7-11 prepped for our Summer Hair Academy. Free meeting once a month leading up to summer. 3 sessions left. We'll be starting assessments soon to have those out of the way before summer.

Sweet Street Jr. Academy...what is it?

In 2017, Sweet Street Artistry & Skill Academy is presenting Summer Hair Academy for girls age 12-15. However, I don't want to leave the younger girls out who are very passionate about natural hair.

Summer '16, our age range was 7-12. Respectively, weeks 1, 2, and 3, my 7, 8, and 9 years olds dropped out of camp. I really wanted to work with them. Especially seeing how my own 7 (now 8) year old daughter increased in skill when she remained in camp with the 11, 12, and 13 year olds. She's become quite talented. Temperament is very important for skill growth.

Jr Academy is my way of vetting my younger group of girls. I need to see the child's passion, their skill potential, and the parent's commitment to the program before Summer '17 arrives.

What: Sweet Street Junior Academy

When: January through May

Day: Saturday (one agreed upon by all parents)

Time: 8am - 4pm

Cost: FREE

I've got some passionate girls lined up so far. I feel like a talent scout out here searching for potential.

Name change and logo update:
"Sweet Street Artistry & Skill Academy"

Age group:
Ages: 12-15

We're only taking 5 girls, age 12-15, this summer.
I have 3 youth workers, age 15-17, with a deep passion for hair.
I'll also have 2 gifted girls, age 8 and 9, from my "Jr Braid Academy", which begins in January.

That's a total of 10 girls this summer.
No more, no less for 2017.

Days of operation:
Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday 8a to 4p

In 2016, Sweet Street Artistry & Skill Academy was a new concept. It was an excellent learning experience, with so many people from our community contributing their time and talent, we had a ball.

In 2017, we're bringing a new format, setting up a new location, and going in a new direction.

A few of my 2016 Sweet Street girls, as well as their parents, have already been inquiring about next summer.

I've also had two women from two other cities reach out to me about starting Sweet Street chapters in their areas. They love what we're doing and I am happy to work with them to establish new sites going forward.

ARK MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL is hosting Summer Jam 2016. This event will be held on SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 2016 at Thomas Cloud Park in Huber Heights, Ohio from 2-5p.

BLACK GIRL BEAUTY NATURALS will be on hand giving away FREE PRODUCT SAMPLES and speaking on as well as COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT through Sweet Street Artistry & Skill Camp.

This is a FREE family friendly event. FREE food and FREE games, prizes, and music.

BLACK GIRL BEAUTY NATURALS will be set up giving out FREE information and FREE consultations, speaking on hair health and growth retention, and providing product demonstrations.

SWEET STREET ARTISTRY & SKILL CAMP just completed it's inaugural summer. The community showed up for these children week after week and we had a blast. I'll be sharing what was accomplished and how we can continue to move forward to provide safe environments and skill instruction for the future of our communities...the children.
