🎺 Beyond the Football Field — This Is Minnesota Parade Season

While many marching band competitions take place on a football field, Minnesota's summer parade season puts the spotlight on forward-moving street performances — a unique marching arts tradition that has thrilled audiences for generations.

More than a dozen competitive parade events will take place across Minnesota this June, including several festivals featuring nothing but marching bands in the lineup. The season culminates with the Vikingland Band Festival in Alexandria on June 28, the state's premier parade marching championship. This year's event will feature 19 marching units, including high school bands along with guest drum and bugle corps Minnesota Brass and River City Rhythm.

Over its 42-year history, Vikingland has welcomed 95 different bands from seven states, three Canadian provinces, and even Norway.

Today's video takes us back to 2018 and part of the championship-winning performance by Henry Sibley High School (now Two Rivers High School), one of Minnesota's most prominent parade bands.

If you're a fan of precision marching, powerful music, and a uniquely Minnesota summer tradition, this season is one you won't want to miss.

📅 Upcoming Minnesota Band Festivals:
• June 14 — Pioneerland Band Festival (Benson)
• June 16 — Litchfield Parade of Bands (Litchfield)
• June 20 — Harry Wenger Marching Band Festival (Owatonna)
• June 20 — Lake Waconia Band Festival (Waconia)
• June 28 — Vikingland Band Festival Championship (Alexandria)

🌧️🎺 For a moment, the crowd forgot about the drenching rain.

That's the power of music.

As this video approaches an incredible 1 million views, we're reminded why we love the Band Directors Marching Band so much. In this unforgettable presentation from the 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade, the crowd responds with cheers and applause as the band executes a series of formation changes, creating a pathway for its float honoring band directors before closing ranks and continuing down the parade route.

Listen closely. You can hear the crowd come alive.

What makes the performance even more remarkable is who is creating that excitement. These aren't high school students—they're music educators ranging in age from 19 to 82, proving that the joy of marching music has no age limit.

If you've already watched it, it's worth experiencing again. If this is your first time, you're in for something special.

🎥 Enjoy one of our favorite Rose Parade memories.
