William John Whetstone, 76, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born January 20th, 1950, Bill had been a resident of Dawson County since moving from Marietta in 1988.
Bill was born in Parkman, Ohio, and his family moved to Georgia when he was 13 years old. As a beloved sales consultant, Bill helped open and worked with Burkett Oil Company for 49 years. Bill was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time in the barn he built from the ground up, always tinkering, working on family vehicles or perfecting his Homebrew b**r and hard c***r if he wasn't on the golf course. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Luva Whetstone.
Surviving are his beloved wife Janice Goodrich Whetstone, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer H. Whetstone Johnson and Christopher M. Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Diane Whetstone; sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Scott Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Mike Gailey; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Reid Barn. 6844 Majors Rd, Cu***ng, GA 30040
Pastor Sandy Reece will speak but everyone will be welcome to share stories and memories.
In lieu of flowers or cards the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity organization of your choice in Bill's name.
