☘️Good day Hikers!!
☘️We apologize for the late Winter Quarter Update! Things have been crazy with going back in person and dealing with club restrictions.
☘️Due to the current peaking Covid cases in California due to the Omicron variant, we see it best to postpone normal club operations until Spring quarter. Due to our club operating with close contact with each other for car rides, we think it is best to minimize the risk for infection. However… FEAR NOT! We plan to be back in full swing for Spring Q! We are also playing with ideas to add an additional mystery(!) hike to our regular 3 hike sets a quarter to make up for postponing.
☘️We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We can’t wait to see you in Spring. Look out for some group pics from last quarter to be posted soon.😍
🌸Wishing you a healthy and happy final half of Winter Quarter. You got this Aggies!!!
See you soon,
DHC🌻

⭐️Hi, Hiking Friends!
⭐️This week’s hike recommendation is much like last weeks, but a bit of an easier version for some of our beginning hikers! This hike still has some fun hills that will give you a taste of a challenging hike but is overall rated as easier than the last. We hope you get outside on this beautiful weekend and take some time for yourselves! Here is the info:
📍Trail Details:
Trail Name: Seaborg and Mariposa Loop
Mileage: 7.2 miles
Trail Type: Loop
Elevation Gain: 1,512 ft.
Distance from Davis: 1 hour & 9 minutes (62 miles)
AllTrails Link:
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/seaborg-and-mariposa-loop-trail
⭐️ IMPORTANT: This hike is within a park that opens at 8am, so if you plan on arriving before 8am you will have to park outside of the park. This will add about a 1/2 mile onto the hike if that is what you do. We hope you have a great weekend, hikers.
Happy Hiking 💚

✨Happy Friday Hikers,
✨We have a bit of a harder hike recommendation for you this week; sometimes the most challenging hikes are some of the most memorable. This Bay Area hike is only 1 hour from Davis and has beautiful green rolling hills now that spring has sprung!
Check out these hike specs below!
📍Trail Details:
Trail Name: Shell Ridge: Pine Canyon Loop
Mileage: 11.3 Miles
Trail Type: Loop
Elevation Gain: 1,463
Distance from Davis: 1 hour & 3 minutes (60 miles)
AllTrails Link:
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/shell-ridge-pine-canyon-loop
✨Recent hikers recommend bringing lots of sunscreen and clothes with lots of coverage because there is not much shade. Remember to stay hydrated; the hotter weather means you have to drink even more water! Tag us in pics if you and your hiking pals decide to try this one out! Happy Hiking!

⭐️Hello, Hikers!
⭐️We have made it to Spring Quarter! Winter quarter was definitely a tough one for a lot of us, but we are almost to the finish line. Because of the hectic-ness of last quarter we weren’t very prompt on giving you the best hike recommendations; we apologize!!! Hike recommendations will continue every Friday this quarter as usual and there will be some awesome ones for this hot weather we are getting!
⭐️We hope that this will be our last quarter apart and plan on resuming hikes and meetings with you in Fall 2021! We will continue to follow campus/ gathering guidelines and will do everything we can to ensure your health and safety when we can meet again.
⭐️Be well and remember to get some fresh air to keep your brain happy and healthy. We will see you all soon!

🌟Happy Friday, Hikers!
🌟We hope your first week went great! Is anyone else already overwhelmed? We sure are! 😧 Getting outdoors always helps us feel a little better, so we have a beautiful hike recommendation for you this week. Check out the trail details below!
🌟Trail Details:
Western States Pioneer Express Rec. Trail
Difficulty: Moderate
Mileage: 8.6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,259 feet
Trail Type: Out-and-Back
AllTrails Link: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/western-states-pioneer-express-recreation-trail
🌟Auburn Recreation Area is one of our favorite places to hike because of the amount of trails you can explore. This trail boasts beautiful views and even some waterfall sightings. Better yet, it is only 45 minutes from Davis! Arriving early is always recommended if you plan to hike during the weekends. Remember to keep your mask on when hiking to keep those around you safe, as well as maintaining a 6 foot distance from other hikers.
Have a great weekend!

Good Afternoon Hikers!☀️
✨We hope your first quarter and finals went swimmingly! We also hope your winter breaks were a time to rest and relax during this stressful year.
✨But now down to business... The status of Winter quarter DHC activities. Unfortunately, restrictions on gatherings are still in place and the pandemic is still hitting our state quite hard. The safety of our hikers, officers, members of the Davis community, and members of the community where our hikes may be located are what is most important to us right now, meaning that hike gatherings will still not be possible for this quarter. We understand that this is disappointing as hiking helps to make us all feel connected but it must be done to ensure the safety of our community that we love so much. Spring Quarter may be a different story as there has been speculation of phased reopening of campus and more in-person options, but that is to be determined at a later date.
✨We will continue to be posting hike recommendations on our page for you to do with members of your household or simply just to save for a later hike. Remember that it is extremely important to continue to wear a mask where you could possibly come into contact with other hikers or members of the community. Wash your hands often and be mindful of how your actions may affect others. We are hopeful for the future, but we must continue to be safe!
✨We can’t wait to be with you all again. Have a safe, healthy, and successful Winter Quarter Aggies! ⭐️
