Teacher of the Year: Sgt. Xavier Everett
Sgt. Everett leads with purpose, building discipline, accountability, and confidence through the ROTC program. His impact goes beyond the classroom, helping students grow into focused, responsible young leaders.

Support Staff Person of the Year: Ms. Quendolyn Bines
Ms. Bines is the heart behind so much of what keeps our school running. She is dependable, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile. Her kindness, resilience, and commitment make a lasting difference every day.

A few of our 8th Grade students wrapped up their final ASCEND trip of the year with an engaging visit to Nucor, where they took part in hands-on activities and explored real-world applications of classroom concepts. Throughout the experience, they gained valuable insight into the steel industry and learned about potential career paths within the company. The visit not only reinforced technical skills but also inspired students to consider future opportunities in manufacturing and beyond.

Mr. Fred Wilson visited again, bringing another thought-provoking discussion—this time centered on the concept of flight in ancient times to our high school cadets. Students explored how early ideas and innovations may have shaped our understanding of flight today. To bring the learning to life, they also created their own center of gravity models, gaining hands-on experience with balance and design principles.

Students in Mrs. Coker’s 7th grade Science class researched minerals found in foods, such as calcium, iron, and potassium. They explored how these minerals support human health and connect to natural resources found in the Earth.

Cadets explored the chemsitry of mixtures by making their own playdough, learning how different ingredients combine to create new materials through a fun, hands-on activity.

Our cadets explored the basics of aeronautics and built a model to demonstrate how center of gravity affects flight.
Special thanks to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce and Mr. Fred Wilson for hosting this hands-on workshop and supporting our students.

Based on the most recent updates, the window for the weather impacts is during our arrival and dismissal times, which could prevent our buses from traveling safely. We hope everyone stays safe tomorrow.

Two of our Flex360/DCIS cadets had the honor of attending the 2026 JROTC Ball, representing our program with pride and professionalism.

Under the leadership and guidance of Sgt. Major David L’Elie and Sgt. Xavier Everett, the evening celebrated the discipline, leadership, and camaraderie that define the JROTC experience.

We are proud of our cadets for stepping into spaces that build confidence, character, and lifelong leadership skills. Well done. 👏
