The lost art of the handwritten thank you note.

If you ever wonder whether a handwritten thank you note really matters, I can promise you that it does. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I continue to volunteer, give, and sponsor Miss Danville year after year.

While it may seem like just one more thing Reuben adds to your already full and stressful week, this simple act of gratitude leaves a lasting impression.

You ladies are the future. You are the reason I have so much hope for tomorrow and for the world my own children will grow up in.

One day, I’m convinced I’ll pull out my stack of Miss Danville thank you notes (yes, I really do keep every single one!) and smile as I remember each of you before you became Miss Kentucky… before you became Miss America… before you became the president. Or the scientist who cured cancer. Or the advocate who made sure every foster child found a forever home. Or the leader who ensured every child was fed, no matter their life altering allergy. Or the innovator who helped future generations stay truly connected in a world that is increasingly digital.

Now more than ever, a handwritten note means something real. It tells someone they were seen. That they mattered. That the time they gave made a difference.

Thank you, ladies, for taking the time to show your appreciation. It never goes unnoticed, and I love every single one of you ❤️

One of my favorite roles each year is serving as Judges Chair for Miss Danville

While pageant day is rightfully centered on the contestants and the crown, I get to experience it from a different perspective. Alongside Co-Chair Laura Hays Jones and our wonderful judges committee, I have the privilege of getting to know the incredible panel entrusted with selecting our next Miss Danville and Miss Danville’s Teen.

Every year, we thoughtfully curate a panel of judges with the experience, integrity, and expertise to evaluate these remarkable young women. This year’s panel was exceptional, and I’m so grateful for the care and professionalism they brought to the process.

Congratulations and thank you for selecting two outstanding young women to represent Danville at Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization and, hopefully, on the Miss America stage.

It is truly an honor to serve on the Miss Danville committee, support the organization as a sponsor, and work alongside such talented judges, volunteers, and contestants.

Ironically, the hardest part of my job is staying quiet during the pageant (shocker!). As each contestant walks across that stage, every instinct in me wants to cheer as loudly as I can. Watching these young women step outside their comfort zones, grow in confidence, and support one another is incredibly inspiring. I hope every single contestant leaves knowing how proud we are of her because, crown or no crown, each of them accomplished something extraordinary.

The dining room of this iconic home was always intended as a stage for gathering and celebration, and the new design reimagines that legacy with a spirit of European glamour. Drawing inspiration from Le Dokhan’s in Paris — the city’s oldest champagne bar — the room is envisioned as a refined blend of Old World elegance and playful modernity.

The existing grandeur of the space, with its tall windows, classical millwork, and glittering chandelier, provides the perfect canvas. A palette of soft celadon, champagne gold, and deep claret is introduced to complement the historic wood furnishings while refreshing the atmosphere with lightness and sparkle. Upholstered seating and drapery take on couture-inspired detailing, with trims and tufting that echo the refinement of Parisian salons.

Accents of whimsy — a nod to champagne’s effervescence — are layered in through art, metallic finishes, and conversational accessories, bringing a sense of joy and personality to the formality of the room. The result is a dining space that feels both regal and inviting: a place where the storied traditions of the home meet the cosmopolitan energy of a Parisian champagne bar.

A room for Celebration. Glamour. Whimsy.

One of the organizations I’m most proud to support is the Miss Danville Scholarship Organization, part of the Miss America Opportunity. Miss Kentucky Miss Kentucky’s Teen

As a committee member and sponsor, I’ve seen firsthand how this program helps young women develop confidence, leadership, interview skills, talent, and a heart for service—all while providing scholarships that help make higher education more attainable.

If you believe in investing in the future of our community, I hope you’ll consider becoming a sponsor or making a donation. Every gift, large or small, helps us continue empowering the next generation of women to dream bigger, lead boldly, and make a difference.

The deadline for donations is July 10.
The Competition is on August 1st.
Free tickets to the pageant will given to all sponsors of $75 or more.

Thank you for supporting these incredible young women!!
