Ever wonder how UTR works? Universal Tennis Rating is a single number from 1.00 to 16.50 that measures your level, no matter your age, gender, or where you play. Every match you play counts, whether it is a tournament, league, or college match.

The system looks at who you played and how close the score was, not just whether you won. Beating a higher rated player boosts your rating, while a lopsided win over a lower rated opponent barely moves it. Ratings update daily using your most recent matches from the past 12 months, and a reliability score shows how solid your number is.

The result is a fair way to find evenly matched opponents and track progress. Know your number, then go raise it!

Not all hard courts play the same. Here's why. 🎾

SURFACE
Slow courts mix more sand into the acrylic paint, so the ball grips, loses speed, and bounces higher. That favors baseliners and long rallies.

Fast courts use a smoother finish, so the ball skids, keeps its pace, and bounces lower. That rewards big serves and short points.

AIR CONDITIONS
Altitude: thinner air means less drag, so the ball flies faster and bounces higher.

Temperature: warm air plays livelier, cold air makes the ball heavier and slower.

Humidity: damp conditions soak the felt, making the ball heavier and slower through the air and off the court.

Surface texture, altitude, temperature, and humidity all decide how fast a court really plays on match day.

Arthur Ashe Stadium is getting a $800M glow-up before the 2027 US Open.

The courtside bowl expands from 3,000 to 5,000 seats, two new luxury suite levels are going in, and the promenade concourse grows 40% for way more room to move.

Add a Daniel Libeskind-designed Grand Entrance, more escalators and elevators, upgraded food and retail, and a $250M Player Performance Center for the athletes.

Biggest investment in US Open history, fully self-funded by the USTA. The greatest stage in tennis is about to get even bigger. 🎾🏟️

The 2026 US Open, the 146th edition, wrapped up at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. Defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka were unable to repeat.

Top seed Alexander Zverev beat American Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 in the men's final to win his first US Open title. He became the first German man to win the tournament since 1989, following his French Open victory earlier this year.

Shelton, the eighth seed, had the crowd behind him but could not end the American men's Grand Slam drought. Andy Roddick's 2003 title remains the last.

On the women's side, Elena Rybakina took the title for her third Grand Slam and second major of 2026, with Sabalenka finishing as runner-up. Maria Sharapova presented the trophy, a tribute to her own US Open win 20 years ago.
