Saw some whales yesterday while we were out around Dana Point harbor on my 42DS Jennueau from Aventura. Good times.

Had a great charter out of Aventura Sailing out of Dana Point on Monday with some good company. Four person trip on a Catalina 36. Day was a bit dank, but good wind to start. By mid afternoon, we were motor-sailing all around in search of any kind of breeze. I was hanging by the shroud with a make shift whisker pole trying to catch anything in the head sail.

So gasoline v***r warning on panel right next to glow plug button. Can't remember if that is regular irony or Alanis Morrset irony. The things you see when the gauges are so low to the deck you need to take a picture to get the engine hours for the green sheet. :-)

More Sailing - Last Sat, I had the pleasure of a nice day doing an Aventura Sailing social sail on a nice Jenneau 42DS off Dana Point Harbor. Wonderful boat and a very good time. Hard to tell, but at one point we did did see a whale and watch them for a while, keeping the proper distance of at least 500 yards so as not to disturb it.

Super nice handling boat. First time I used a German Double Mainsheet system. Can see where that makes it easy to sail short handed.

Things got a bit slow during the holidays on my sailing posts, so here we go with some catch up. On Dec 30th, Art Prangley, Lori Johnson and I went out to challenge the gods of SoCal winter weather. To my Michigan friends like Chris O'Mara, boating when it is 45 and wet is not all that challenging, but we were also expecting gusts to 30 knots and were only in a 32 foot sailboat. Never got the big wind, just drizzle and cold. Still a great time with good company.

Sailed out of Dana Point Harbor on charter via Aventura Sailing.

What is you best foul weather story?

Hey everyone, keep in mind that the only reason this FB page exists to use it to help people realize there is a linked Facebook GROUP where more collaboration on sailing together can occur.

Facebook is a little weird on how it allows different features for groups and pages, so I needed to do both.

Again use the button under the main picture to visit the linked GROUP for this page.
