We are inviting all Slaughter Elementary students to enter their original artwork into our Yearbook Cover Contest! Design a cover that shows off your school pride.

🎨 Art must be on vertical 8.5 × 11 plain white paper.
🎨 Include the school name and the year.
🎨 Artwork must be completed by a Slaughter Elementary student.
🎨 Use up as much white space as possible using colored pencil, crayon, marker, pens, etc.
🎨 Student's full name, grade level, and homeroom teacher should be written ON THE BACK in pencil.
🎨 Protect your work by keeping it in a folder.

SUBMISSIONS DUE TO MRS. KENEALEY NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH. Submissions will be voted on by Slaughter staff members and a winner will be announced on Monday, April 20th. For more information, reach out to Mrs. Kenealey at [email protected].

This week, is National School Counseling Week. It's a week to celebrate school counselors and the many ways they help students succeed both in school and in life.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to our amazing counselor, Mrs. Cowan, for all that she does! From teaching guidance lessons to helping students work through worries and solve problems to simply being a listening ear, she makes such a difference every single day.

Thank you, Mrs. Cowan, for caring so deeply for our students and helping make our school a safe, supportive, and welcoming place for all!

All McKinney ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, due to forecasts indicating a continuation of the extreme weather conditions and hazardous road conditions throughout the area. The decision was made to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.

All school-related activities, including after-school programs and extracurricular events will be cancelled as well.

Current weather models indicate temperatures will rise above freezing by Tuesday afternoon, which should help improve road conditions. At this time, we anticipate a normal school day on Wednesday, January 28. We will continue to monitor conditions closely in cooperation with local emergency officials and will provide an update to families and staff on Tuesday.

Sweet BeauBeau (also known as “Parker”) has been rescued by Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue! Thank you for your dedication and care! Please share in hopes that he has owners who are missing him. If nothing else, his new family will be so lucky to have him. Thank you, again, to Mutts & Mayhem for setting up outside our campus this evening to rescue him before the freeze hits. 👏🐶💙
