Neighborhoods of paper bag gingerbread houses for book characters have popped up all over our library these last 2 weeks! I can’t wait to see what this week holds. 🙂 Dale B. Davis Elementary School

Looking for a funny summer read? I highly recommend this book. I actually read this sentence today: “When a dead gorilla interrupts your best friend’s shower, you pick up the phone.” Truer words have never been written.

I would like to express my profound appreciation for Mrs. Salyer and Ms. Flores. While they have always worked as a team with me, their help has been absolutely invaluable this year as we have dealt with so many remote learning technology-related issues. My schedule has made dealing with these personally prohibitively difficult during the school days, but Mrs. Salyer and Mrs. Flores have been on-call to help students and parents access their education virtually. I sincerely don't know how we could make it without them!

On Friday, May 29th, at 10:00 a.m. we are celebrating the retirement of two wonderful individuals: Karen Schultz, 5th grade teacher, and Debbie Wise, school nurse. Students and families, staff, family and friends of the honored -- please join our parade at 3205 Dorchester. The honorées will sit on the porch, and the rest of us will file by in cars with posters to send them off properly to their new adventures!

Students, here is a flyer for Reading Takes You Places, our summer reading program.

I'm also including the Google Form link that you will complete every time you read for at least 30 minutes. (I expect you to complete this form more than once -- ANY TIME you read for at least 30 minutes. I would suggest bookmarking the form.) Once you have read for a total of 10 hours this summer, you may attend the Summer Reading Celebration when classes begin again in the fall. Here is the link: https://bit.ly/DavisSummerReading

Dear ones, keep reading! I miss you.

Love,
Mrs. Cox

Dear Students,

I need to cancel open library office hours for tomorrow, 5/13. I'll be up at school working to clean up the library. However, I'll have open library office hours on Friday again at 1:00. You can always send a message to me to get the Zoom link!
