Bold Idea Bold Idea is a Dallas-based education non-profit organization that helps students discover computer Young minds are capable of bold thinking in their youth.

Bold Idea supports the development of students as critical thinkers, problem solvers and effective communicators who are proficient in core technology skills – from coding to computational thinking. Bold Idea is an education non-profit organization based in Dallas. Our mentor-based programs ensure students thrive in an increasingly technological world, where critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration are necessary for success. Students learn computer science and 21st century skills through hands-on computing projects. As a team and guided by volunteer mentors, students learn to develop an idea through multiple iterations of ideation, prototyping and testing. Finally, they present their projects to an outside panel of experts drawn from parents, team sponsors and the community. Bold Idea empowers students to create technologies that solve real-world problems, while giving them confidence as young coders.

Early Giving is open for North Texas Giving Day.

Bold Idea alumni are now studying at Brown, SMU, UT Dallas, UNT, Texas State, and BYU working as technology consultants and software engineers. They started in a Dallas ISD after-school Coding Club with zero experience.

This year, we're raising $75,000 to bring that same pipeline to 330 students across 14 Dallas schools and learning communities.

We're Back!

Bold Idea Coding Clubs are returning for an exciting new school year, and we'd love for you to be part of it!

This fall, we're launching Coding Clubs beginning the week of August 31st at 14 Dallas ISD schools, 2 community centers, and our virtual club. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, students will have the opportunity to explore coding, build confidence, and discover new possibilities in technology.

As a mentor, you'll work alongside students as they learn to code, solve problems, and develop skills that can shape their futures. Whether you're an experienced programmer or simply passionate about encouraging the next generation, your time and support can make a meaningful difference.

To help you feel prepared, we'll provide mentor training on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
If you're ready to inspire young innovators, we'd love to have you on our team! Register today by visiting https://boldidea.org/mentor.

We can't wait to welcome you back for another incredible year of Coding Clubs and help empower the next generation of tech leaders!
