Skill Builders Speakers League clubs open the world of Speakers League to children aged 8-17 who may need a little extra time or assistance to master the speaking and leadership skills learned through Speakers League. A primary goal of Skill Builders is to help facilitate a child in mastering the elements of Speakers League. This is achieved through individually-paced, progressively challenging op
portunities at club meetings to do impromptu speaking, prepared speeches, peer-to-peer as well as self-evaluation, and meeting management. Each child is seen as an individual. Advancement and new opportunities are made available for every member. Skill Builders clubs are special needs friendly, and the highly-adaptable format sets the stage for learning, social growth, and achievement. Skill Builders is a great tool for development as well as providing a feeling of accomplishment and success to every child. Similar to standard Speakers League clubs, Skill Builders clubs are facilitated by an experienced adult who conducts structured training segments within the club meetings. These include "How To" sessions, necessary breaks, games, and object lessons that help to build specific mastery, as well as occasional visits and mentoring from club members from nearby Speakers League clubs.
