Please join us in welcoming Dr. Carla Madison-Turner as interim principal of Atwood McDonald Elementary! Dr. Madison-Turner is a 15-year educator and is in her 8th year with Fort Worth ISD, with experience as an instructional coach at North Side HS and assistant principal at both Clifford Davis Elementary and North Side HS. We’re excited to have her leading the Atwood McDonald community as we stay focused on safe classrooms, strong instruction, and student success.

I was honored to serve as grand marshal for the annual Greater Fort Worth Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Committee Inc. Parade a few years ago with my mentor Judge L. Clifford Davis and the remarkable Mrs. Opal Lee.

I am so proud of my daughter, Kathleen for carrying on the tradition in our family to stand up and stand proud for Dr. King.

The dream lives on!

Lauryn Newman is a proud Fort Worth, Texas native and student at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School 🎓. She is undecided with acceptance letters from University of Houston, and Florida A&M University, majoring in Psychology 🧠.

Lauryn aspires to become a Child Psychologist, with plans to earn her B.S., Master’s in Adolescent Psychology, and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology 💙.

An AP Scholar with Distinction, UIL Debate award winner, and dedicated community servant, Lauryn is actively involved in Debate, National Honor Society, Black Student Union, AVID, and more 🏆🤝. Her passion for youth advocacy and mental health shines through everything she does.

From the very first day she stepped into the principal’s office, and led a powerful academic turnaround engaging students 📚, empowering teachers 👩🏽‍🏫👨🏽‍🏫, and partnering with the community 🤝 to elevate Dunbar High School.

Beyond education, she is also the founder of SK Benton Holdings, LLC 🏢, continuing her legacy of leadership and excellence.
