Today we’re celebrating Mrs. Lilly Mendoza at Hastings Elementary!

Mrs. Mendoza’s Duncanville journey began in 2019 as a bilingual teaching assistant, and today she’s continuing to grow right here in D’ville as a resident teacher while completing her senior year at Dallas College!

Her journey is a great example of what it means to grow your own—investing in people who already know, love, and are committed to our students and community.

We’re proud to have you growing with us, Mrs. Mendoza! ❤️💙🐾

Yesterday, we hosted our first RISE Academy meet-up of the year, bringing our newest Panthers together for connection, encouragement, and support!

Our session focused on the 5 Core Challenges of Early-Career Teachers—because when we can recognize the challenges that often come with the first years of teaching, we’re better equipped to navigate them with confidence and intention.

RISE Academy is about more than helping new teachers survive the year. It’s about building the support, confidence, and community they need to thrive—so they can continue “writing success stories one student at a time.” ❤️💙

This week, we’re celebrating Kayla Kimmons of Fairmeadows Elementary!

A recent University of North Texas graduate, Kayla was already showing her champion spirit before she officially started her contract—volunteering at Duncanville U and jumping right in to serve!

A visit to her classroom this week showed that same initiative in action: expectations are set, students are engaged, and they’re ready to rise to the challenge!

We’re excited to watch Ms. Kimmons grow, lead, and make an impact during her first year in Dville!❤️💙

Today, our science teachers are kicking off their Team Huddle series, learning game-winning plays they can take straight to the classroom! Their coach, Science Coordinator Kennisha Johnson, is leading the team as they unpack the TEKS, explore misconceptions, investigate high-impact strategies, and build their instructional playbooks.

Because champions don’t just show up on game day—they prepare, practice, and perform! 🏆
