Set once again in the Wasatch Mountains at the University of Utah, in its 10th year, Learning DevCamp 2023 is a learning event dedicated to collaborating with both corporate and higher-education learning designers and developers on creating online learning programs and rich content. Our approach is simple. Our industry experts present and explore the practical application of both instructional design theory and practical development tools/techniques. Power. Maybe you don't like the "power plays" at work. Maybe you're someone who knows intuitively how to navigate the hallways of influence. Regardless of which side of the spectrum you feel comfortable with, we all need to understand and leverage power dynamics at work to get things done, to advocate for our teams, and to advance our careers. In this session we'll discuss power as the ability to control scarce and desired resource in the organization, where the sources of power reside, and how to tap into them carefully to influence others. We'll look at power both in terms of our own personal leadership capacity as well as that of the L&D function as a whole.
