Are you a Native college student, recent graduate, or young Native business entrepreneur? We'd love to have you join our Mentor Mondays team and help inspire the next generation of Native leaders in Dallas ISD!

Mentor Mondays connects Native high school students with mentors who can share their experiences about college, career pathways, entrepreneurship, balancing academics with cultural identity, and preparing for the future. You don't have to have all the answers—just a willingness to encourage and support our students through honest conversations.

Mentor Requirements:
• Native college student, recent graduate, or young business entrepreneur
• Complete the Dallas ISD Volunteer Application (includes a background check)
• Availability on a second Monday from September through April from 7:00–8:00 PM
• Access to a computer and reliable internet

This is currently a volunteer opportunity, but the impact you can make on a student's future is priceless.

🍂 Cherokee Families!

The Cherokee Community of North Texas (CCNT) has a great event happening this Saturday in Irving. Don't miss this opportunity to connect your students with their Native community, learn, build relationships, and celebrate Cherokee culture together!

📅 Join Us for the 3rd 2026 CCNT Member Gathering!

Make plans to join the Cherokee Community of North Texas for our 3rd Member Gathering of 2026 on Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Irving Archives and Museum (801 W. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060). (Volunteer setup begins at 9:00 a.m.)

This promises to be an enjoyable and informative gathering featuring:
🍀 Door prizes
🎲 Cherokee Bingo
💪 A presentation from a health and wellness expert, with complimentary exercise bands for all attendees
📸 A special artist tour of Cherokee and other Native American plants and animals throughout the Catskills and Great Smoky Mountains.

We will also recognize 2026 CCNT Scholarship recipient Laci Reese for her achievement.

Following the gathering, attendees are invited to enjoy free admission to tour the Irving Archives and Museum.

🌱 I'm so excited about the upcoming From Seed to Table Summer Camp at Texas Native Health! As soon as I saw the flyer, I signed up my daughter.

Campers will learn where food comes from by growing, harvesting, and preparing it—from the garden all the way to the table. It sounds like an amazing hands-on experience, and I can't wait to see what they learn! 🌿🥕🍅

Many of our students have expressed an interest in dancing in the powwow arena, and LaRay's monthly dance class at Texas Native Health is a great place to learn and build confidence!

The next class is Wednesday, July 22. Let's get our kids into the dance circle, strengthen their connection to culture, and have fun learning together. We hope to see you there!
