Advice from Couples Life & Fertility Support Coach Tiffany Jo Baker:
"When it comes to matching, I think the most important things to match on is level of communication, type of relationship desired throughout the journey and after, and the core values of what matters most to each of them. Knowing if the individuals are more emotive / emotionally-driven or more logical / process-driven and how that plays out in communication and expectations is crucial. I use a communication tool with the couples I coach that is amazing for this."

"Surrogacy has brought so much more to my life than I ever could have imagined it would. Originally, I wanted to do it to help families that otherwise might never be able to have babies of their own. But it showed me how, if I put my mind to something, I can work through it and accomplish hard things. I never imagined how close I would feel to the families after we experienced something so special together. It is now as though we have extended family all over the world β and definitely some new countries added to our list of places we want to visit one day." - Erin, 2x surrogate (currently on her 3rd!), shares her experiences in our latest blog post

From the article:
These babies end up with DNA from three different people: the woman trying to have a baby; her male partner; and the egg donor who has provided 37 mitochondrial genes. That's why they're called three-parent babies.
But Mazur says that label is wrong.
"These babies β they have DNA from mother and from father. So they are genetically related to their parents," Mazur says.
The overwhelming majority of the baby's DNA comes from the nucleus of the cell. And those are the genes responsible for the traits that most people consider their genetic inheritance, such as their eye and hair color, height, weight and personality.
The bit of mitochondrial DNA is "incomparable," Mazur says. "These children are more like their parents β not donor."
Clinic Claims Success In Making Babies With 3 Parents' DNA
A clinic in Kiev, Ukraine, stirs controversy by making babies with DNA from three different people to help women who are infertile bear children. It's the only clinic known to be doing this right now.

"I have had mixed reactions from other family members, some of them not quite understanding why I was doing this. I had to explain the process a lot of times and had some harsh comments along the way, but for the most part it was good. I think the most support I had was from my husband, children, and friends. My husband went to every transfer with me and gave me every shot. He was so tender and caring about them and often said he was sorry about the shots. Hearing him tell people I was strong for signing up for these shots makes me happy, to this day! He sees what I did for another family and is proud." - Amanda, 2x surrogate to siblings, reflects on her journeys in our latest blog post
