Alcorn State University alumnus Daniel Stallworth ’21 has secured a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week on the season premiere of American Idol.

Stallworth, a Moss Point, Miss., native and former member of the Alcorn State University Gospel Choir, impressed the judges during his audition tonight. Currently an elementary music teacher, he joins a select group of vocalists moving forward in the competition.

Sit on this! Before finding its way into American traditions, the black-eyed pea (also known as cow-pea) traveled from Central Africa to the West Indies and finally to the Carolina's in the early 1700.
