Good evening, Spartan Families!
I hope you had a phenomenal and restful weekend!
The beginning of the year has come with a few challenges, but just like Spartan Nation always does, we come together and work together to make things as successful as possible. Thank you for your patience with the Gaston College power outage and for your continued support as we work through some bus challenges. Currently, Bus 438 will be a challenge in the mornings, and Bus 500 in the afternoons. We are actively working to hire drivers, but the process can take up to two months due to DOT requirements and training.
A few quick updates and reminders:
Picture Day has been rescheduled for Monday, August 24. We are also waiting on the college to confirm whether 9th- and 13th-year orientation will be August 19 or August 24, so please save both dates for now.
The Safer Schools video was emailed to parents and guardians today, and we will watch it tomorrow (8/17).
Tuesday is our Bad Daddy’s Back-to-School Bash, with proceeds supporting spring college field trips. Make sure you mention GECHS and tell your friends and family!
We’ll also continue our required safety trainings this week, so please remind students to take those drills seriously.
And finally, club sign-ups begin tomorrow through Remind, starting with seniors at 8:00, juniors at 8:30, sophomores at 8:45, and freshmen at 10:30. Sign up before clubs fill up!
