This is the poem I wrote when I was 19 that “Louder Than Words” is based on. You can read it in the book of course, but here’s a sneak peek!
THE CLOUD THAT RAINS TEARS
Breila Joy
9-8-96
Crying softly, as it pours down rain,
my tears are hidden so also my pain.
No one to help me climb out of despair,
‘cause no one has noticed, or no one has cared.
So i look up to the dark, wet clouds.
Their raindrops hide teardrops, but that shouldn’t be allowed.
‘Cause only the clouds can see when i cry,
as they hide from the world, my sadness; they lie.
Staring intently, i see in the cloud,
The shape of a girl whose head is bowed.
I look up higher to see the girl better.
The cloud just keeps raining, and my face just gets wetter.
But something inside me continues to say,
“Just look a bit closer; wipe the tears away.”
And in that moment my eyes see it clearly.
The girl in the cloud is not a cloud, merely,
but the face of my own, as she cries from the pain.
She is the one who’s making it rain.
She’s hiding on purpose the sorrows within.
Doesn’t she know she needs to let someone in?
‘Cause before He can help her to ease all her fears,
she’s got to reveal her sad reason for tears.
I look once again to the girl who is crying,
And i cry even more for the girl who’s not trying.
Staring, still, at the girl, in the cloud raining tears,
i quietly listen and suddenly hear.--
Someone behind her who’s watching the sky,
with caring words, sees her--the cloud passing by.
Now, i know in my heart that the girl’s not still crying,
‘cause the Father brought her out of the clouds that were lying,
and He eased all her pain with the hope that one day
we’ll be joined once again; He’ll take my pain, too, away.

Sowing Tears
"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." Psalms 126:5 I have been a writer for as long as I can remember.
My first book to be published, "Louder Than Words," is the story of "The Cloud That Rains Tears," a poem I wrote in high school. It is in the editing stage currently, and I have already started my second book, "Not Juliet." I am excited to have a Facebook presence and a place to keep you updated on the final stages of publication.
People who didn’t know me as a child/teen would never know I used to suffer from anxiety or depression. I am a different person now because I found a way out of that darkness. “Louder Than Words” is based on a poem I wrote in high school, “The Cloud That Rains Tears,” while I was still hiding in that darkness, and tells my whole story. It is my hope that it will help others like me to find their way out, and help those who love someone like me to understand and be a light amidst their darkness. Were it not for the ones in my life who lit up my darkness, I may not have made it here to tell about it. If you haven’t read my book yet, you can get a signed copy for $13 just by sending me a message! It’s appropriate for all ages and makes a great gift! In fact, you get a discount when purchasing multiple copies. Merry Christmas!
I’m sitting in a conference for the company I work for, and just so happens my team mates and friends are all either late, not coming or not findable. So I found a seat next to a stranger. I realized about 5 minutes in that my old self would never have even walked into this room with out someone familiar by my side, let alone sat down ALONE. And certainly would not have been happy about it! But here I am. Introduced myself to said stranger. Gaining some knowledge. No anxiety. No fear. No burning desire to run away. I’m ok. I’m actually perfectly ok with this. For those of you who have always been ok with such a scenario, you may not understand how much of a blessing this is. I have come a long way from my childhood prison. I found so many new freedoms since that day when I was 19 and was given knowledge of what was wrong and the keys to let me out of that prison. It’s been a long road. And while so many anxieties fell away that day, it has taken me this long to get here: To be perfectly ok to sit in a crowd of people all alone. Healing takes time. And I believe it sometimes requires you to make a choice to do the things that will facilitate healing. I’m sure I am not done healing either. But I am free. And if you’re one of those reading this that does understand what that kind of anxiety feels like, I encourage you to make a choice to facilitate your own healing.

Ok guys. My book cover is in design and I need votes on which photo to use on the back cover. The aim with an author photo is to connect with potential readers on an emotional level. Lake photo or Fountain photo? Cast your votes!
Manuscript came back from my editor yesterday! Almost finished approving edits and then production begins. Turns out my editor has the same name as a main character in my book, as well as my niece that is due to be born soon. Interesting!
So I was originally unclear about the manuscript review. I had thought the editing would be completed at the same time. Editing didn't start until after that was finished. Sooo, editing is scheduled to be done in about 4 weeks and then production starts. Making progress!
Manuscript review is complete. 😊
