Meet Mrs. Sarah Hawk – Kindergarten Teacher

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Hawk to Mercy Prep as a Kindergarten teacher! She brings a heart for early childhood education, a passion for students, and a desire to help children grow academically, socially, and spiritually in a Christ-centered environment.

🎓 Education & Experience
Mrs. Hawk is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe ’em Jacks!) and holds EC–6 and ESL certifications. She has 8 years of experience in public education, teaching both Kindergarten and First Grade, and is excited to begin her first year at Mercy Prep.

💜 Why Education?
Mrs. Hawk was inspired by her own elementary teachers and dreamed from a young age of becoming the kind of teacher who could impact students the way hers impacted her. She says she is truly “living the dream” as an educator.

🙏 Faith & Teaching
Her favorite verse is Isaiah 41:10, a reminder of God’s presence and strength. Mrs. Hawk views teaching as a mission field, believing that every child is placed in her classroom by God for a purpose. She strives to plant seeds of faith while leading with grace, patience, and love.
She and her family attend Pathway Baptist Church, where she serves in Children’s Ministry on Wednesday nights and helps with Moms Connect, a women’s ministry event planning team.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Faith & Family
Mrs. Hawk and her husband, Andrew, have two daughters, Lyla and Lily, and a playful “not-so-vicious” guard dog named Cooper. Their family enjoys Saturday mornings in Downtown Waxahachie and making memories together.

She loves watercolor painting, baking cookies, and staying active
She has an undefeated boxing record
If she had a superpower, she’d be Elasti-Girl from The Incredibles
Dream travel destination: Europe

📚☀️ Mercy Prep Summer Reading Challenge is here!

Students are encouraged to read 10 books from 10 different genres this summer to stay sharp and grow a lifelong love of reading. PK and Kindergarten students may have books read aloud by a parent or sibling.

Finish by September 1, 2026 to earn a Free Dress Pass and a lunchtime snow cone!

💜 Mrs. Shoup – Technology 💻📚

Mrs. Shoup teaches Technology at Mercy Prep, helping students from elementary through high school build confidence, creativity, and real-world skills through technology. With experience teaching robotics, math, science, social studies, and technology across multiple grade levels, she brings a versatile and hands-on approach to learning.

🎓 Education & Experience
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master’s in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas, and is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Technology from Walden University. She also serves as an adjunct professor in Education at Nelson University.

💜 Faith & Family
Mrs. Shoup and her husband met at church and have been married for almost ten years. They have two daughters, Adley and Edlyn, and enjoy serving and growing in faith together. Their family attends Full Life Assembly of God in Waxahachie, where she serves in several ministries.

🌿 Interests & Life Outside the Classroom
Outside of school, she enjoys reading, video games, and sourdough baking. She also enjoys exploring new ideas in technology and education while balancing the busy, joyful life of raising young children.

Mrs. Shoup values the close-knit, Christ-centered community at Mercy Prep. She loves working alongside students, families, and staff who feel more like a family than a school, and she considers it a privilege to serve in multiple areas of campus life.
