Plano West Orchestra

We're incredibly proud that two PWSH Orchestra students are in the TOP 10 of the graduating class. Congratulations for this incredible honor to Eric and Aditya!

Several years ago, Plano ISD changed their formula for calculating class rank GPA. The updated formula no longer rewards dropping fine arts classes to take AP classes purely for the GPA boost they used to provide. Now, all students are evaluated on a core set of classes that are common to everyone. It's not at all surprising to see this result, and best of all, these outstanding scholars have proven that you can do music AND compete at the highest academic level. Tell your friends and neighbors!

In the middle of the flury of TMEA last week, PWSH junior Andy Lee had a special moment! Andy was the winner of this year's TexASTA Solo Competition. At the TexASTA general meeting, he received his award and played a fantastic performance for those in attendance! Andy is a member of our Chamber Orchestra, and a viola student of Ron Houston.

Today, these Plano West Orchestra students begin their 2026 All-State journey! Congratulations, and have the time of your life this weekend!

Join us on Tuesday, January 13 for our 2026 Masterworks program, in partnership with the Plano West Choir and Plano West Band. "From Darkness to Light" traces a journey from reflection to renewal, pairing Richard Strauss’s "Metamorphosen," a profound meditation on loss and transformation, with Elaine Hagenberg’s "Illuminare," a radiant expression of hope and awakening.

Congrats to our PWSH Orchestra members performing in a Region 25 All-Region Orchestra this weekend! We're proud of your hard work to reach this milestone!

Our friends at Plano East Orchestra and Band ( and ) gave an outstanding sendoff concert tonight! They are going to bring down the house in Chicago with their Symphony Orchestra performance at The Midwest Clinic --- bravi tutti!

Presenting the PWSH Orchestra Class of 2030! They were on campus today for our 8th Grade Orchestra Wolfpack Training and we had a blast!

We are so happy to share that recently, the Jasper High School Legacy Orchestra placed 4th in Texas in the TMEA Honor String Orchestra competition! This is an outstanding achievement for any program, but truly remarkable since Jasper is a grade 9/10 campus --- every other orchestra in the finals were traditional high schools with more experienced juniors and seniors in their membership. We couldn't be more proud of these incredibly hard working and talented musicians, and their maestro Mr. Moreno!

We're also happy to congratulate our friends at Klein Cain HS for their first ever win! We can't wait to hear your performance at TMEA in February.
