Our incredible collection of experiences competing at the FIRST Robotics Qualifier hosted by an amazing group of volunteers thanks to the generous FIRST in Texas community from all over, was capped off by a giant surprise with our Team 5242 being awarded the Chairman’s Award for this event at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. This award earns an advancement to the University Interscholastic League Texas State Championship in just over a week, and a chance to earn a spot competing at the FIRST World championships in Houston later in April. Learn more about the Chairman’s award from the link in the comments.
We are so grateful for all those who have inspired us and invested with us in this achievement that has been years in the making. We have so many to thank from our campus and community, including:
Our founding mentor from Texas Instruments, , and Paul Miller, another great friend and mentors from TI.
Tammy Yarlagadda Bardwell and her team at Studio Bella for Kids for partnering to inspire so many through joint venture camps, just as we have done with Cody Seabolt, founding director of The Workshop by TBK Bank where we have also upgraded the manufacturing capabilities of our robot building and invested in dozens of students inspiring them to become creators.
We couldn’t have done all we’ve been privileged to do around our region without partners like Tony from Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. and Carolyn Brown from L3Harris Technologies and ’brien amd his team from Unique Software Development and , formerly of American Airlines.
Our work with the SWE Dallas chapter has also been incredibly impactful partnering on the Design Your World - STEM Conference for Girls as have all our community partnerships.
We also want to thank our incredible parent boosters, especially Christina Navarro who leads our non-profit and supports us and feeds us all year long, and the entire Woodrow Wilson High School community.
I’m addition to multi-year grant support from Texas Workforce Commission and Junior League of Dallas.
This year we also added additional financial support from Apple and the Gene Haas Foundation to make it possible to do what we do which is build leaders and creators for today and tomorrow.
Join us in congratulating this years FRC 5242 Robocats and celebrating all who have partnered with us!
