📚 EXPOSITORY/INFORMATIONAL WRITING ACROSS-THE-CURRICULUM 5-PART WEBINAR SERIES
⏰ Deadline to Register: March 17
✅ Expository and informational writing is the academic writing all students need to know and to apply in all grades and all subject areas. Using the Jane Schaffer Writing Program®, this training opportunity teaches English language arts and reading teachers how to build the foundation of expository writing for all students. And content area teachers will learn how to apply the JSWP method in their classrooms when asking students to write short or long responses to demonstrate their knowledge of the content being taught.
✅ Learn techniques of summarization, science lab reports, and writing expository and informational texts for both non text-based and text-based writing. Writing prompts and sample paragraphs are included for the core subjects, as well as career and technology, fine arts, physical education, religious studies, and world languages. Learn the JSWP terminology, color-coding, and structure that successfully takes young writers through the writing process and makes incorporating writing into content areas easier.

👩🎓THE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS ESSAY 5-PART WEBINAR SERIES
Students all over the country and abroad are asked to write college admissions essays to the colleges of their choice. This task can be daunting for students, but the Jane Schaffer Writing Program guides students to producing an essay that provides sincere information and separates them from other applicants vying for that college acceptance letter.
Some college essay topics ask students to (1) share their backgrounds, interests, or talents; (2) provide lessons they have learned from obstacles encountered in their lives; (3) recount times when they might have been questioned or challenged; (4) reflect on something that other people did that made the students thankful; (5) discuss accomplishments, events, or realizations that sparked a period of personal growth; or perhaps (6) describe captivating and meaningful topics, ideas, or concepts in their lives. JSWP provides high school student workshops to guide students to select appropriate and interesting college essay topics to set the students’ writing apart from other college admissions entries and then leads students through the process to develop their essays.
JSWP also provides teachers with a step-by-step approach to strategies for writing college essays so that their students can successfully enroll in the college of their choice.
Subject Area Participants: English Language Arts and Reading, English Language Learners, Learning Support
Grade Level(s): 9-12
5-Part Series (Weeknights):
