The Malvern Red Hawks wrapped up another great week of learning today! Under the leadership of Principal Inetra Nelson and her administrative team, the school year is off to a great start. As Malvern celebrates 25 years in 2026-2027, they are emphasizing the legacy established by namesakes Albert and Iola Malvern, encouraging students to consider their own legacy and providing them with the knowledge, support and community that will help them create a legacy that endures. Ashley Magno is providing a great example for them to follow. Now serving as a 3rd grade teacher, she is giving back to the school she attended as an elementary student!

Press Elementary is rocking the 2026-2027 school year! Principal Rachel Corbin made her way around campus as students ran, jumped and speed-walked in the gym; danced and sang in the music room and immersed themselves in new learning in their classrooms! It's shaping up to be a great year! Have a wonderful weekend, Press Elementary!

Lawson Early Childhood School, led by Principal Susie Towber, is home to McKinney ISD's Early Head Start, Head Start, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), Pre-Kindergarten, and Preschool Language programs and serves more than 500 of the district's youngest learners. Led by Principal Karla Massey, Caldwell Dual Language Academy offers a two-way dual immersion program for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Two way immersion is a form of dual-language education that combines students from two language groups while providing instruction in both languages. The (K-4) classes are comprised of approximately one-half native English speakers and one-half native Spanish speakers. Students learn the academic curriculum through both languages simultaneously. The Caldwell Cats are making 2026-2027 the best year ever! To learn more about Caldwell, visit https://www.mckinneyisd.net/o/ces/page/a-dual-language-campus

Our Burks Elementary students are kicking off the school year by unleashing their incredible creativity in art and music classes. Imagination is traveling from the mind to the page as the art students draw beautiful masterpieces, and the musicians are bringing rhythm to life by tapping mallets on balloons. They are also having fun chasing them through the air. 😀
Let your talents fly, Burks Eagles and soar all year long!

“They’re just excited to have something in their hands!” exclaims Finch Elementary P.E. Coach Amie Bordelon as she warms up the 2nd grade students with the hula-hoops. They serve as a fun manipulative for their muscular strength building.
Assisting Bordelon in the class is PE aide Kelly Craig.

As we move through the second full week of school, students and teachers are settling into the routines and rhythms of the 2026-2027 school year. At Glen Oaks, learning is happening all across campus as students build new skills and explore new concepts (and have a lot of fun along the way). The Tigers of Glen Oaks are off to a great start!

There is SO much to learn during those first weeks of school as a kindergartener, and Wilmeth Elementary LMS Courtnee Kendrick LOVES to lead the littles through the ins and outs of the library. Principal Grace Roberts enjoys these sessions, too: “they are always so cute learning how to check out books in our magical learning commons.”
