This week’s Dennis Baker State Farm Scholar Athlete of the Week is senior Rhett Hulin from Mckinney North High School.

Rhett is a 4-year cross country and track runner for the Bulldogs, and he has served as captain for both teams. He holds 3 records in cross country for the 5K, 1600 meter and 3200 meter races. Rhett is a 2-time State Qualifier, and he ranked in the Top 15 in 5A Cross Country. He was awarded 3 times as the Outstanding Distance Athlete on his campus, and he was selected for the THSCA Boys Cross Country 5A Super Elite Team.

Rhett is an AP Scholar, and he ranks in the top 8% of his class.
He has received the Academic Excellence award 3 times and the Academic All-District award in cross country and track – 3 times as well.

Rhett participates in the PALS student mentorship program, and he works for HEB.

After graduation Rhett plans to continue running in college and major in Sports Management or Business Analytics.

Today, Minshew Elementary students got a glimpse into the future during the school's STEM & Future Career Day!

Students met professionals from a wide range of fields who shared what they do each day, the skills they use on the job, and the pathways that led them to their careers. They also heard from Boyd, MHS and North Career & Technical Education (CTE) students and learned more about the classes available in high school that will help prepare them for careers that include aviation, cosmetology, video production, journalism, education, business and marketing, agriculture and more.

Thank you to all of the parent and community volunteers and high school students who made the experience meaningful and memorable. You helped to inspire the next generation!

What Does It Mean for Athletics?

From the field to the pool, the November 3 election includes two propositions that would impact McKinney ISD athletics programs and facilities.

Here's a look at what's included:

🏟️ Proposition E

Replace aging turf at McKinney ISD Stadium.

Replace the deteriorating track foundation and resurface the track at Ron Poe Stadium.

🏊 Proposition D

Renovate the existing McKinney High School training pool.

Address aging pool equipment, plumbing, lighting, ventilation and deck surfaces.

📅 Early Voting: October 19–30
🗳️ Election Day: November 3
