I haven’t posted in a while but wanted to show all the fun we’ve been having! We’ve been busy making art, baking, setting up science experiences, and learning.

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted but we’ve been busy! The girls loved the Dr. Seuss theme a couple of weeks ago. They got to crack eggs and stir in the greens (spinach😉) to make our green eggs and ham, matched up rhyming words like the ones we read in Dr. Seuss’ books, did an apples on top learning activity, painted Cat in the Hat’s hat, sorted and graphed our goldfish snack, had a fun Cat in the Hat lunch, and our kindergartener even got to dress up like Thing 2!

Last week our theme was dinosaurs! We learned all about the different types of dinosaurs. The girls were busy all week doing dinosaur learning activities, making dinosaur crafts, and they even got to make dinosaur eggs and fossils. On Friday they got to use tools to help them hatch the dinosaur eggs. They also got to be paleontologists and dug for the fossils.

We had a fun Valentines week! The girls did Valentines themed learning activities and made Fizzy Hearts and letters, grew heart crystals, made Valentines Oobleck, and baked Valentines cookies.

We had fun learning all about arctic animals last week. The girls made a polar bear craft, played arctic animal bingo, and learned about land and water arctic animals by playing in sensory tubs. They also did two fun science experiments. They learned how blubber can help animals feel warmer by covering their hands in shortening and then dipping it in cold water and they also tested to see if sand, salt, or air would melt ice the fastest. I also read aloud arctic animal books during our story time.

Our Winter Theme was full of fun! The kids painted snowflakes, made and played with “snow”, made igloos out of mini marshmallows and toothpicks, made a snowman snack, and finished off our winter theme by baking snowball cookies. They also had fun playing learning games and listening to me read them books about winter.

Our Community Helpers Theme turned out so fun. The girls learned all about doctors, construction workers, dentists, police officers, and fire fighters.

Free play is crucial for these early years. I love seeing what kids come up with when I give them time for free play. Their big imaginations run wild. One day they may line up chairs and pretend to go on a bus ride with their friends, another day they may choose to build the tallest tower, and another day they may decide that they want to dress up as a super hero so they can go fight the bad guys. It is so good for their development because they are able to build on their social, problem solving, and thinking skills.
Ms. Allison's Home Preschool has one full time spots for children 12 months and up. Call or email me if you are interested in scheduling a tour.
