Wow, Flashback to 6 years ago today from the Facebook yearbook.

As I’m re-reading this I’m thinking I would still say the same thing today and realizing, oh sh!$, this was six years ago today, like WTF!? 2019 was an insane year for me.
I remember I was wanting and willing to do anything I had to do to eradicate my then Stage 4 diagnosis and I embraced every moment of it b/c:

1. Anything can happen at anytime so live everyday like it’s your last, Literally, don’t just talk about it but like Nike, !
and
2. No good was going to come from me NOT being positive about my situation at the time so I was all in.

I said it then and I say it now but life is 10% what happens to you and 90% your attitude in how you respond to it. With no known cause, any means to prevent it, and/or effective standard of care for , I was very intentional to focus on not what I couldn’t control but what I could and no matter what was going to happen, I wanted to leave an impression that was positive.
Control what you can, not what you can’t.

The Definition of cancer survivorship is defined as “from the time of diagnosed and continues throughout the rest of your life”, including those that are undergoing treatment and those that are not and are N.E.D.
(No Evidence of Disease)

I’m very intentional not to have ever let my cancer diagnosis almost 7 years ago ever define me, but instead, I defined it.

How about these apples from three years ago from the Facebook yearbook?

At the time in 2021 this was one year out after I had spend a month in Colorado the year before doing TIL in 2020 and was gearing up for a PET to confirm the prior PET to this before was gone.

Blessed and still wake up every day grateful for it all.

What a difference a year has made in Chris’s journey and we are so grateful for your love, prayers and overall support! Please keep the good vibes coming as he has another routine PET scan in the morning and your love and prayers are always much appreciated!

One year ago! Time is so precious and I’m so grateful for every moment of it.
I just got home from volunteering at this year‘s Gala and I’m blessed to be able to be of service and lend a hand.

5 years ago today, fresh after a head shave.
I remember hearing someone say to me I had the “look”, the look of someone who was mean mugging the mirror with that “I ain’t focking around with you Cancer, FAFO and see what happens look”.
I said it since day one 14 months prior to this pic which was “give me everything you got. I don’t care how much or how bad but I am not going down without a fight and the harder I go down will mean so much more when I get back up”.
I’m a scrappy dude and if I got no gloves I’m throwing socks on my hands! 👊

I am so proud of this rockstar and his bravery. 🙌😎
After recovering from colitis, which was a long and treacherous road for Chris, he came back strong and ready to continue treatment. However, because of the colitis, he wasn’t able to continue the same immunotherapy as before. This time he began a new chemotherapy called Abraxane. The treatment has been harder than ones in the past, and Chris is experiencing more symptoms than he has before.

Throughout all of it, he moves forward with a positive attitude and perseverance. He recently got back into work and is closing on a new home this month! Woohoo 🥳

No matter the scans, traveling, treatments or side effects, Chris continues to show the true definition of courage. He is so determined and I am so proud to be his sister!!

A body still is a body at rest and a body that moves is a body that improves.

6 years ago from the FB Yearbook Vault.
Recovering from the third surgery in two months and having nerve damage in the right groin along with multiple tubes hanging out of my stomach that collect fluid and are draining in to a couple balls holstered in a f***y pack.

In addition I had to spend about six weeks of physical therapy after this along with getting a doctors note to release to be able to go back to work. Straight up, this sucked but still happy to keep moving.

Let’s all keep moving.
