Fomer classroom teacher, current elementary school counselor. Working hard to bring the best to my school building and the people I serve! Welcome Friends!
Melissa here. I am a wife, mom of 3, long time elementary teacher and current elementary school counselor. Being in education has taught me many things, most important being, that you CAN NOT do this job alone. I survive off of the advice and encouragement of others and I hope that I can be that for you. Together, we can learn, grow and share to better serve those in our care!

I love the idea is using positive mantras to help change mindsets! Including mine😊. This was a nice reminder for me to focus on today, courtesy of the I am app. The I am app is a free app that sends positive mantras/ reminders to my phone every couple of hours. I can choose the backgrounds and general themes that I want sent. I am so happy that I found it!

My family had the opportunity to go to Orlando this last week! We had the best time, just the 5 of us! I hate to admit but, I NEVER would have taken the days off of school when they were little. I wasted so much time feeling guilty. What would my administrators think? What would the teachers think? Who would take care of my students? Instead, I should have been reminding myself that I can be 100% invested in my career, love my students and STILL prioritize my family. I missed a lot when my kids were younger because, “I had to work.” In reality, I have no idea what that work was, that was so important but, I remember everything that I missed with my kids. My kids are now 20, 18 & 16 and I can’t get that time back. However, I can turn off work at a reasonable hour now and remind those of you with young kids...when you are at work give 100%, when you are home prioritize those babies! They grow up so fast!!!
