This weekend was big in Texas as held its first statewide conference in collaboration with .

As Montessorians, we share the same mission and vision of implementing Montessori with fidelity in public and private schools, creating more TEPs, working with state legislators towards aligning state education standards with Montessori curriculum and increasing community awareness and outreach.

I was interviewed on-stage during the keynote panel discussion and shared the stage with some incredible Montessori leaders.

I was proud to represent Regional Action Commission for Southwest Region and and be the voice of Montessori educators. Some important work has begun in Texas.

The week of ‘Where are you?’ texts comes to an end. Have you been on a work trip and get back home just to have withdrawals. We’ve had a full week of learning, collaboration, inspiration, reunions and more friendships. I love my Montessori squad! Thank you for this week. We are forever grateful! Until next year!

Day 1 of Regional Action Commission is complete! Some real important work has started… What an honor it is to be working with this amazing team to advocate Montessori education in our states and regions, and to promote AMS membership as we help members feel more connected to the organization.

The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist” (Montessori, 1967a).

A journey that started as a sub… Tomorrow I am starting my 10th year at . This place is my second home and a true gift! Over the past 10 years as a guide, I have taught over 200 students, written numerous emails and newsletters, and have received outpouring love from my favorite humans, their parents and families, my coworkers and most of all my wonderful boss, mentor and friend . We’ve shared laughter, joy, tears, ups and downs AND a pandemic 😉.
Let’s start another important year with my sweet children. If we’ve crossed paths in any way Montessori, I humbly request you to please share how we met, leave a comment or just an emoji and help me start this joyful year with a bang❗️

This week children received the Third Great Lesson- Coming of Humans. In this lesson the importance of appearance of man on Earth is explored. The lesson highlights the special place of human beings, their special gifts and also makes the children aware of the universal needs of humans and some of the strategies they have used in the past to meet them.

➡️Swipe to see our follow up work. The books I use that help in telling the story or may be used as an extension of the lesson are:
1. Mammals who Morph,’ by Jennifer Morgan. This book is perfect as it picks up with the extinction of dinosaurs and tells how tiny mammals survived and morphed into lots of new Earthlings... and mammals with powerful imagination... MAN!!!
2. Early People- highlights who were the first people and where did they live? How they survived etc.
3. Hominids- A book back at our ancestors,’ by Helen Roney Sattler is a very old publication. This copy that I own, was printed in 1988. I was lucky to find it in a Library hardcover copy, from a library that was closing down. If you can get your hands on it, this book is sure to keep. It talks about and fascinating discoveries about early creatures. This comprehensive introduction to early provides an intriguing, important look back at every person’s past.

My people and I just returned from in Boston, MA. We returned home inspired, full of ideas and with a whole new energy to continue the work we love doing everyday!

A big shout out to and team. Hosting 4000 people in-person and 1000 online is not an easy task. We are so grateful for you all.

Thank you for this opportunity and helping us grow and be our better selves for the children.

Last week during outdoor school our kindergarteners created 'Solar Prints' and learned about the process of cyanotype.

The children used their nature findings on a special paper and exposed them to the sun. The light was blocked in places where there was a leaf, acorn, stick or a rock and passed through the rest of the paper. When this paper was washed in clear water... Voila!! We created our own blueprints.
