Our hearts are very heavy tonight. As of 2:45 am this morning, our baby boy, Rudy (aka Rudolph) started his journey across the Rainbow Bridge to join with his beloved Oonagh. We lost him to insulinoma, and Rudy was 7 yrs old when he left us. He’s no longer in pain and is a free spirit now. RIP Rudy, we will miss you greatly and we will always love you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is 8 month old Maya (right), Gypsy’s sibling, and my little comical troublemaker🎭. You’ve already met Gypsy. ❤️

When I woke up this morning, I found the two girls, Maya and Gypsy (both 8 month old siblings), like this in their new hammock asking to be let out. It was so adorable I had to take a couple of pictures.

Early shopping for The 4th of July. Thought this was adorable and wanted to share with my ferret peeps.

This cutie is our 6 month old baby girl. She came with the name of Emma when we adopted her 3 days ago. She’s a chocolate and not a sable. And she’s got a very cute, sweet, and charming personality. Any ideas for a name for her? It can be a cute name or an exotic name. My daughter and I were thinking along the lines of Egyptian names.

I apologize for not writing for so long, much has happened within the last year. This isn’t an easy post, but I feel the need to reach out to my Ferret lovers to let you all know that our precious Oonagh passed away sometime last night. I adopted her when she was just 1 1/2-2 years old. She lived to be 7 1/2-8 years old. I adopted her from Petco in 2013 when I saw this tiny ferret whom was all alone watching me from her habitat. I just had to hold her. It was then she would not let me go and I decided to take her home with me. Since Petco said that she was brought in by someone who rescued her from a construction site, her age was unknown. The vet I took her to estimated her age to be in the range of 1 1/2-2 years old. As Oonagh and I got to know one another, I discovered that she was quite inquisitive and relentless. She was my little Houdini. It was cute the way she would make that playful noise they make while she did her war dance. Oonagh got her name from the fairy in the movie, Legend with Mia Sara and Tom Cruise. She had her little crushes, and she even had a little crush on my husband, Geoff upon their first meeting. She grew to be close to me, my daughter Natalie, and my husband, though she loved my daughter Hailey and my son Jonathan. Oonagh is and was part of our family and she was our furry baby.
Oonagh looked after her much younger adopted cage mate brothers as if they were her blood siblings (she was 3 yrs and they were 2 yrs). She also looked after them when they weren’t feeling well. She lived a very long and happy life and we will miss her terribly.
RIP little Miss Oonagh. May you cross the Rainbow Bridge and be happily reunited with those you missed and outlived. May we meet again when it’s time. We all love you and we will miss you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🌈✨
Oonagh is the cinnamon colored ferret in these photos. Her two cate mates are Drake (deceased in 2016), Rudy and Scooter who she survived by. They have yet to learn of her passing. As soon as I find the strength today to tell them, my husband and I will allow them to see her and say their last goodbyes to her in their own ferret way. She was a little sprite, but also a loving caretaker.

Sorry I haven’t been active lately, a lot has been going on within the last 5 months. Between healing from a major back surgery and taking care of foster ferrets, it’s been a bit chaotic around here.
Within the last 5 months, my husband and I have lost two foster ferrets to either heart problems + old age and adrenal failure + old age. We first lost Timothy to congestive heart failure and second his cage mate, Meeky, to adrenal failure.
Taking care of foster ferrets who have medical conditions comes with great responsibilities. Their days are more numbered than a healthy ferret. BUT it’s a great feeling when you can give them the love and care they need within their numbered days of their lives. Yes, it’s painful when they go, but they will pass knowing that they were loved.
This is Sylvester. We’re now losing Sylvester to old age and possibly lymphoma of the spine. Sylvester has always had difficulty in controlling his hind legs. We are in the final hours of Sylvester’s life. He’s at peace and knows that it’s his time. He’s not suffering and feels comfortable in passing away in a home where he feels the safest.
