Yesterday, we had the honor of recognizing our 5th grade class as we launched them from elementary into middle school. Students were recognized for perfect attendance, A and A/B honor roll, Bulldog Pride (for excellent conduct), and subject specific awards. Each homeroom teacher named their class valedictorian and also selected a Star Student. Needless to say, there were many tears shed by staff, students, and families - this is such a special group of kids! We will miss them and hope they always remember that someone at Davis Elementary loves them!

Ms. McAree’s class had a special visitor for the last day of school! Luna, one of Ms. McAree’s dogs, got to visit class after her students wrote some very persuasive letters to Mrs. Camp. Their letters listed all of the reasons Luna should visit, and Mrs. Camp couldn’t say no after reading them 🐶

Our 5th graders ended their last full day on campus with a silly string and water balloon fight!

Big news! 🎉 Our campus has been recognized as a 2025–2026 Capturing Kids’ Hearts® National Showcase School for our commitment to building a culture where relationships come first and every student is supported to succeed. Our staff were treated to some CKH swag at our final staff meeting of the year. We’re proud of our team and grateful for our amazing community!

The final countdown is on! This Friday, May 22nd, is our last day of school and an early release day at 12:00 p.m. Please ensure your child is picked up on time so everyone can officially kick off summer vacation right on schedule. It's almost time to trade the backpacks for sunglasses! 😎

We want to say CONGRATULATIONS to our Student Council for winning not one, but TWO, awards this year in recognition of the outstanding service they have given to our school and community at large!
In late April, we learned that our Student Council was one of 54 student councils nationwide who had been named a recipient of the 2026 ASCA Student Council School of Excellence Award! This award honors exemplary elementary and middle schools and their student councils for their outstanding commitment to the four pillars of ASCA: community service student leadership, citizenship, and school spirit. More information on this award can be found here: https://bit.ly/3RvZcGw
And then yesterday, we found out that our Student Council was also named a recipient of the 2026 TEPSA Student Leadership Award that honors outstanding student leadership teams and their positive impact on our school communities across Texas. There were a total of 167 student councils across the state that earned this honor, including those at our sister campuses, Ruth Cherry Elementary and WR Fort Elementary. More information on this honor can be found at https://bit.ly/4wF2Uxy
We are so extremely proud of all of the work our Student Council has done this year, and it wouldn't be possible without the guidance and support of our amazing Student Council Advisor, Mrs. Carter!
Please join us in congratuating this exceptional group of students!

“Cain’s Carnival” is up and running in our cafeteria today! Our GT and RTI groups got to create their own games using materials that would have been recycled - nothing was purchased for these games - and invited our entire school to come and play. Students came up with the rules for their games too! The level of their creativity is off the chart! Thank you to Mrs. Crenshaw for facilitating this experience for our students.
