SIGNING OFF

The 20 Year Reunion has come and gone and the countdown to the 30 year has begun. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and the opportunity to reconnect with people you possibly haven’t seen in a long time.

Much has happened in 20 years: school, more school and for some even more school, the dot com boom and bust, the real estate boom and bust, war, cell phones, smart phones, social media, love, love lost, children, moving away, moving back. Our class has doctors, lawyers, bankers, entrepreneurs, investors, mothers, fathers, teachers, salesmen, missionaries, pastors, professional athletes, musicians and actresses. We have served in the Middle East, sailed the seas, flown the skies, won big money on a game show and hiked the Appalachian Trail; lived in Houston, London, Los Angeles, New York, Greenville, Guam and Laramie to name a few. And who can forget those we have lost: Chad Schirato, Bryan Hughes, Richard Nieto, Katie Findley and Megan Jones. Change is the only thing that has remained constant and over the next ten years the only thing we can count on is change. It is important to recognize this and be ready to support each other as life continues.

This weekend was a great time and from the looks of it I believe everyone might agree. Thanks to all for coming and making it a success, and a sincere thank you to all who bought a ticket and helped make it possible financially. When all was said and done we were able to cover all costs.

Again, it was great to see everyone. Stay safe. See you again in 10 years if not sooner. Cheers.

REUNION TONIGHT!
A Few Notes

1. When you get to Oktoberfest, you will still need to buy a ticket to get into the event. HOWEVER, tell them you are with the LHHS '95 Reunion and the price of admission will be discounted to $5.
2. We have a tent. It will be farthest tent to the right of the sound stage adjacent to the creek. Keep walking past the food tents, you can't miss it.
If you haven't already, you can buy at ticket when you show up for $45.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to the game and the Lake House afterwards. It was a ton of fun and great to see everyone. The more things change, the more they stay the same which is not a bad thing. I think the highlight of the night was seeing the recreation of Shannon & Kyle's dance (Prom?) photo.

If it's not too late.....

Allow me to clarify something for everyone. We have our own dedicated space at Oktoberfest. Out own tent, our own space to talk, hang out and have fun. We even have our own bar tender so no one has to fight the crowd. If you are curious as to what the ticket price covers, this tent and dedicated space is the largest expense.

So now that has been said....get yourself a ticket and come!

So far 125 people have said they will come but only 51 have purchased tickets. $35 now via the Eventbrite link below or $45 at the door.

MORE REUNION DETAILS & A CALL FOR HELP

First, we need some help. Can anyone out there provide some assistance with the following:

1. Senior Show / Highlandette Review / Football Highlight videos. Likely in VHS format, but does anyone have any of these and could either (i) provide us with the videos or (ii) convert to a digital format and send it over?

2. Video Screen Projector. To play the Senior Show / Highlandette Review / Football Highlight videos we hopefully get.

3. A "Class of 1995" Banner. Anyone know of a quality, yet inexpensive, place we can have a banner made to mark our tent at Oktoberfest? Big enough that it can been seen from afar.

Second, reunion updates

1. Friday night. Football game followed by hanging at The Lake House (see previous posts for more information about The Lake House). Gain access to the press box by telling the ticket gate when you purchase your ticket to the game that you are there for the reunion.

2. Saturday day. Oktoberfest runs all day. The Class of 1995 Reunion tent will be up and available for you to congregate under at your leisure. No formal Reunion activities but feel free to make your own plans. It's kid friendly

3. Saturday night. Oktoberfest! The actual Reunion will kick off at 6:00pm and end at 10:00pm. The Old '97s go on at 7:00pm. The goal is to just have a great time catching up. You will need to purchase your ticket into Oktoberfest ($10 per person). There will be plenty of food and drink options and all proceeds benefit the Lake Highlands Exchange Club. This is intended to be kid free.

4. Reunion Cost. It costs money to put this on so we will need to ask everyone attending to pitch in. We will publish next week the per person cost and send around a payment method.

Reunion Update!

We are less than 3 months away from our 20 year reunion. Make your plans now! We are still finalizing details, but here's what we can tell you:

Event Details
1. Date: October 2nd - 3rd
2. Friday Night: Football Game (LHHS vs. Mesquite). We've reserved the press box to watch it from. I believe the press box only holds approximately 175 people so access to the press box will be first come first serve.
3. Saturday Night: We have reserved our own tent at Lake Highland's Oktoberfest (http://lhoktoberfest.com/). A band will be playing on the main stage. We are currently trying to track down a VHS copy of Senior Show and Highlandette Review to play in the background. Food will be provided by the event, but we are going to secure our own dedicated bar tender.
4. Saturday Day: The tent we will congregate under that night will be available for any families that want to visit Oktoberfest and picnic.

Cost
One of our goals is to make this cost effective for everyone. We will publish a final ticket price here in the near future as the final tally comes in. Since we will be at Oktoberfest, you will need to buy a $15 ticket (per person) at the gate to get into the event. This will be separate from the reunion "ticket" we will ask each of you to purchase to attend. This "ticket" will help us defray the costs to put on the event. We will likely open up a Paypal account (or something similar) to help with collection.

Attendance
Remember the LHHS phone directories? We do and were able to secure the old directory from our senior year. Evidently the school collects them. They probably belong in a time capsule though. We truly want everyone to come, so we plan on trying to track down and notify everyone in our senior class about the reunion. We will continue to update the APB post as our effort progresses, and we'd like to enlist the help of everyone in getting the word out, especially to those not on FB.

Unsolicited Commentary
It has been 20 years and we've all changed. Personally, I'm much different than I was in high school and at times I do think back and wonder what was I was thinking, doing, not doing, etc in certain situations. I say this because I'm sure each of us can think of a lot of reasons from our past why we should not attend our 20 year reunion. Please don't let that deter you though. Come, everyone will be glad you did.

The 2015 LHHS football schedule is out. It looks like LH will be playing Mesquite reunion weekend. Plan on joining the Class of 1995 for the game. We'll be watching it from the cozy confines of the press box.
