While the workshop is focused on graduate financial aid, so much of this conversation applies to undergraduate families as well. As federal financial aid continues to shift, educational consultants need to understand what is changing, what questions families should be asking, and how to help students make thoughtful decisions about the cost and value of college and graduate school.

They are not only building a college list based on academics, fit, affordability, and opportunity, they are also navigating auditions, program expectations, team culture, and where their talent can truly shine.

Today, I’m excited to join Twirl U for a virtual workshop on "𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒔𝒕" and help students think strategically about finding the right place to grow, perform, belong, and thrive.

It’s not often you look at the 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝟖 and see your personal, professional, and family history written all over the bracket! 🏀


I’ve had the incredible privilege of working at 4 of these powerhouse programs— Duke University, University of Notre Dame, TCU – Texas Christian University, and my alma mater, University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). To make it even more special, my daughters followed in those footsteps as proud Horned Frogs 🐸 and Longhorns 🤘🏼, attending TCU – Texas Christian University and The University of Texas at Austin.


In my work as a 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, I’m constantly reminded that these aren't just names on a basketball court—they are world-class institutions where I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to get in and succeed. Helping students navigate the path to universities of this caliber is my passion, and seeing five of them represented here feels like a "full circle" moment for my career and my family.


No matter who cuts down the nets, a part of my heart is already winning. Good luck to all these incredible 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘴!

What do I do when I am traveling and get an SOS text that ends with “can you hop on a quick call” from a College Success client who is thriving in college?l and has big goals?

I stop everything, find a corner in the airport, pull out my laptop, pop in my AirPods and hop on FaceTime! There is a fast approaching deadline for an important application that we’ve had on her academic and career development plan. It requires resume design, essay prompt responses, peer interviews, and connection with decision makers.

We knocked out a solid hour of progress and she’s well on her way to hitting the deadline with a plan that will ensure she stands out as a candidate in the applicant pool.

Every day I speak with families who are trying to determine how to pay for the cost of a college education for their children.

Institutions also have a role in moving beyond explaining affordability and truly delivering education that best serves its students and their career ROI. These college Presidents are making this goal part of their strategic priorities—a representative sample of institutions across the U.S.
