Last night, we came together to celebrate the end of our largest debate season yet. From first-time competitors to championship finalists, this year was filled with growth, hard work, and unforgettable moments across our entire community.

At our End of Year Dinner, we had the chance to recognize our champions, honor the dedication of our students and coaches, and reflect on everything this season made possible. More than anything, it was a reminder that DUDA is built not only on competitive success, but on the community that supports one another through every round, tournament, and late-night prep along the way.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this season so special. Proud of all that our students accomplished this year.

We were proud to host the Inaugural Texas Sports Debate Championship at Toyota Stadium in Frisco this past Friday.

Students from across the Dallas Metroplex came together for a day of thoughtful discussion, competition, and community. The event featured a panel discussion with sports industry leaders, Sports Talk student roundtables exploring careers in the sports industry, and concluded with our Championship Debate. Together, these experiences showcased how debate can connect students to real-world issues, careers, and opportunities through the lens of sports.

A huge thank you to our panelists and sports industry partners for sharing their time, experiences, and insights with our students. We are also grateful to our partners, NAUDL and FC Dallas, for helping make this event possible.

Excited for what’s ahead for Sports Debate Texas.

DUDA Receives Texas Bar Foundation Grant to Expand Spanish-Language Debate Programming

Dallas, TX — The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance (DUDA) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to support the continued growth of its Spanish-language debate initiative, Debate en Español, as part of its 2026 summer programming. This funding will directly support DUDA’s summer debate camp at Emmett J. Conrad High School, where middle and high school students will have the opportunity to engage in rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive debate instruction delivered in Spanish. The program is designed specifically for students for whom English may present a barrier to participation in traditional debate formats, creating a pathway for full inclusion in one of the most academically transformative activities available to young people.

“Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.”

DUDA currently serves more than 2,100 students across over 130 school programs in Dallas ISD, providing year-round programming that includes tournaments, workshops, and ongoing training opportunities. The addition of expanded Spanish-language programming reflects DUDA’s continued commitment to innovation, equity, and the development of informed student leaders.

For more information about DUDA’s summer programming or to support Debate en Español, please contact Cindi Timmons at [email protected].
