Cranium Kids

Well school is definitely back in session! Hope everyone is starting to find their flow! We are just finishing up Learning with Nemo. This software has several good activities including counting, number recognition, patterns, and letter and phonic recognition. Kids love seeing some of their favorite Disney characters.

Next week we will start a new piece of software. It’s been busy and hectic returning to the schools that shut down for the summer and starting some new schools as well. Always nice to see our little friends return after summer break.

What a great news piece NBC did this week on Rainbow Days. We were so blessed to be there this week working with these kids. This is one of four camps we do with these sweet kids!!! It is always so rewarding and feeds my soul to see them smile!!!

Camp Geared to Kids Experiencing Homelessness Rainbow Days' Camp Bravo! is an arts-focused summer camp for 300 children in Dallas ISD who are experiencing homelessness.

Cranium Kids is so proud each year to partner with Rainbow Days. 180 children are brought to the UTD campus from local homeless shelters to experience what it’s like to be in college. We offer the computer element of their day. They travel from room to room on campus taking different classes each day. At the end of the week they have a graduation ceremony in caps and gowns. This is our 13th year at camp and each year it is a highlight to our summer!!

Today we started Sesame Street Let’s Make a Word. It’s a great piece of software! Kids will spend the next 2 weeks working with Big Bird and friends to practice phonics, word building, and rhyming! Lots of laughter in this piece, the kids find it super silly!

This week we are just finishing Winnie the Pooh, Math with Pooh. It is a great software title with Pooh and all his friends. They work on counting, number recognition, beginning math including addition and in some cases even subtraction. We made cupcakes with Piglet, built funny contraptions following blue prints with Tigger, and counted objects in the wishing well. This software title has multiple skill levels and would be a great piece for parents to have at home for their kids.

Happy March!! Where is the time going?

This week we will start School Town shapes. We will be learning all kinds of shapes, grouping items by like shapes, and doing shape puzzles. Each time we finish a few pages of shape activities, we will be rewarded with a shape game!

This time of year is always so hard for us. We hate to see all the little kids leaving our program for Kindergarten. They grow up so fast!! We get many emails from parents, I wanted to share this one with you:

We will miss her computer class! She has learned so much. Her dad is a programmer, and he was also impressed with her knowledge. This has been a great experience for her! Thank you!
