TODAY. IS. THE. DAY. We have been busting at the seems to share our new name, and today, the cat is out of the bag! We are now officially "The Museum School of East Dallas"!!! What do you think?!?!

This week is significant to The Museum School of East Dallas because we are also doing our first official pilot of our school model, so we wanted to use this week to re-introduce ourselves to our community!

When I first began to brainstorm names for a school in East Dallas (way before I officially started my co-design work this past year) I spent lots of time thinking of something that would mean "community." Through many months of brainstorming and running names by neighbors, The Civic School had a unique ring to it, and thus became the official name.

As we dove deep into the community co-design work this past year and decided on our school model, we also did lots of research on innovative schools, and one common marketing and branding tip with innovation schools was that they often include the model in their name (ex: Brent Montessori School, Friendship STEM Academy, etc.).

Therefore, after many focus groups, surveys, conversations and more, we are officially making the switch to our new upgraded name! We hope you like it and look forward to keeping you posted on how our camp goes this week! Thanks to all who have cheered us on in this process!

And thank you to the name "The Civic School." You served us well in our co-design year, and we hope to do you proud as we continue to grow into our new TMS name!

Please join us in welcoming our newest founding board member, Vilas Panicker. We are excited for him to bring his expertise in school finance to ensure we can start strong financially as a new charter school!

Dr. Malone and I had the privilege of connecting earlier this year and I am incredibly grateful for not only his sustained interest in TCS but also his belief and experience in education both in and outside of the education world!

He will bring such an incredible perspective of education in various realms, from different grade levels to deaf education as well as human resources and beyond!
