Raise the Barbell wouldn’t be where we are today without the CrossFit Odyssey community.

What a privilege it has been to work with the coaches and athletes in that gym.

Our community spotlights will only be places that we have tried and love + we would recommend CrossFit Odyssey to anyone.

There is a focus on longevity, aging well, functional fitness, and safety, all of which are key beliefs held here at Raise the Barbell.

🚨NOW OFFERING VALD FORCEDECK TESTING AT RAISE THE BARBELL🚨

❓What are ForceDecks?
They are force plates that can give you a ton of information about the amount of force you’re generating in a landing, hop or squat. It’s ‘functional testing’ backed by data and norms for each type of test.

❓What movements are tested?
This will depend on your preferred activity but you can land on one leg (runners/HYROXErs), squat on them with load (lifters, CrossFitters) as well as all other sorts of types of tests depending on the data you want.

❓Who is this for?
Most of the time, we use this to look at the side to side differences in someone who has had a lower extremity injury or surgery. While some asymmetry is normal and expected in everyone, with injuries or surgeries (like ACL reconstructions), the amount of asymmetry can be really high. The goal is to get this asymmetry down to no more than 10% per side and the ForceDecks help us track this progress. Even overhead athletes can benefit from this type of testing if they have a lower extremity injury or are post-op.

❓Would I benefit from this if I’m not injured?
Absolutely! ForceDeck testing can give you a baseline of your ability to produce and manage force and loads. It can also give you an idea of things you may need to work on, especially if you’re trying to get faster, more explosive, etc.

Let us know if you have any other questions you would want to have addressed about ForceDeck testing in a future post!
